Yohko says:I cut out Journal Cards from “Love Journal Cards” Paper. I placed them on both side of a photo of my son. I decided to use “Alpha Love” Foiled Paper as my background.

Introducing our November 2013 Guest Designer!

Please help us welcome Yohko Takiguchi! Yohko was the international winner of our guest designer contest with Gossamer Blue. We are so excited to have her with us this month and we can't wait to share her creations with you!

My name is Yohko Takiguchi. I live in Nagoya, Japan with my husband and two sons, 12 and 13 years old. I work as a research assistant in a molecular biology lab. I started scrapbooking in 2004, for the album to celebrate the graduation of the nursery school. My style is colorful and playful.

 

 

Q: What did you have the most fun creating with and why? 

 

A: I had the most fun working with Stella Rose. I love the shabby chic color of this collection. The decorative brads are my favorite items.

Q: What is your favorite MME collection of all time?

A: My favorite MME collection is Lime Twist. I love all the color combinations and cute items of this collection. I found these so easy and fun to work with.

Veteran's Day

Hey everyone and Happy Monday. This is Stephanie and today I'm here to share a Veteran's Day layout with you.

I have a veteran husband and a veteran brother and they mean the world to me. I never tire of saying thank you...even though it doesn't seem like nearly enough.

This isn't a traditional military layout...or a traditionally masculine layout, come to think of it! I just went with it. I think you can make a military page without making it green, brown, black, or navy.

I even used a chipboard flower and enamel heart on this page. Since it's more about my gratitude for my husband than it is about the Army...I thought it was a-okay.

I cut the bottom part off of this chipboard piece from Chalk Studio. The bottom party says "To Fly". I discarded that part and used "It takes Courage". I think the sentiment fits oh so well.

The U.S. Army tag is actually another chalkboard piece from Chalk Studio. It says "us" on it. I added enamel dots for periods and cut up some tiny word stickers to build the word "Army".

I hope today I've shown you how it's possible to make military  layouts without using military themed products.

Lost and Found Record It with Missy

Hi, scrappy friends!  Missy here with you today. 

Have you had a chance to play with the new Lost & Found collections?  They are amazing!  I couldn’t wait to dig in as soon as I received them.  The embellishments are so fun in this collection…lots of layered stickers, Project Life cards, ephemera, glitter…you name it!  I created a layout combining the Heirloom and Antique collections.  I was instantly inspired by the gorgeous pinks in the Heirloom line, and wanted to create a layout about me and my husband.

 

I began with the Heirloom “Formal” paper and went for my gesso, modeling paste and stencils.  I love to “dirty” up my backgrounds sometimes.  It’s fun to use gesso to give a faded look around the page.  Next, I started to go through all the papers and Project Life cards to build my layers.

Next, I sorted through all the word stickers and ephemera…there are so many fun ways to embellish with this collection!  I chose several pieces that described the way I feel about my husband.  The fun part is that both of these collections mesh so well together.  Everything coordinates!

 

 Another awesome part of these collections is the glitter!  Yay!  What girl doesn’t love glitter?  And it’s silver, so it goes with everything!

 

There are also lots of arrows in these lines…in this layout, I just kept thinking of Cupid’s Arrow.  It seemed appropriate for a page about love :).

 

I had tons of fun going through these collections and combining different elements from each one.  And they’re not all completely “lovey dovey.”  There is so much to choose from that you really can make pages about any subject.  That’s what I love about MME’s products!

Using Record It! Cards on Layouts

Hi, everyone!  Missy here with you today.  If you’ve checked out the new Lost & Found collections, you’ve seen that there are a ton of Project Life type cards included.  I haven’t taken on the task of Project Life yet…and I’m not sure if I will.  Regardless if you do it or not, these adorable Record It! cards are definitely usable on your layouts.  I love using them for embellishments, journaling, fussy cutting…you name it.  They are very versatile and can be used in a lot of different ways.

 

I decided to scrap a photo of my husband and me dressed up for a nice date night at a fundraiser event for our daughters’ school.  I really liked the different shades of pink and red in the Heirloom collection, so I centered everything around that.  I dug into my MME stash and pulled some papers from the Find Your Wings and Fly collection to mix in.  I used NINE different Record It Cards on this layout.  See if you can spot them all!

I used one of the cards for a checklist, and I layered another behind it.  I cut the “today” banner piece from one, and I tore the hearts from another one.  To me, they’re just like mini pieces of patterned paper.

 

I fussy cut more words from more cards, and I used one of the 4x6 behind my photo.  They’re also great for layering.

 

Here’s another angle of the layers.  There are probably pieces included that you don’t think you’ll use…they’re great for building dimension and layers behind your photos or embellishments.

 

Here you can see closely two of the cards.  I just love shuffling through them all and pulling out the ones that go with my project!  I love the pops of pattern and color they add.

I hope this inspires you to give the Record It~ cards a chance…especially if you don’t do Project Life, like me.  I had lots of fun making this page, and it was surprisingly easy to put together because of the adorable cards.  You don’t have to do a lot of cutting or trimming.  They’re already the perfect size!

New Collection Reveal | Lost and Found Record It!

Welcome to the blog today, MME fans!  Not only is today the first day of October....today is also the day we begin to reveal our two new mid- release collections to you!

We know you will love the two new collections. They include some beloved favorites AND some new additions.

Up first? Lost & Found Record It by Jen Allyson.

This collection has two color schemes: Heirloom and Antique.

Before we share everything with you, here's a little insight from Jen herself.

With Lost & Found Record It, I wanted to create two collections that had a very romantic feel. I've been dying to create a "black & white" set of papers and embellishments. To me, black & white is the most elegant of combinations, and so perfect for a line like Lost & Found. Of course with Lost & Found, the whites are going to be beautiful creams and aged tans, and the blacks are going to be warm grays and deep rich blacks. I love antique silver glitter, and was able to create a glitter blend for this line that has that old-world glass glitter look to it. To me, the whole line is absolute perfection.

 

"Heirloom" the red and pink set is an homage to love and all things feminine. Bold pinks and deep reds weave a story of love and lovely moments. Hearts, doilies, bold florals and a healthy dose of red glitter make this line unique and luxurious. I can't wait to create a million beautiful crafty projects using all these papers and embellishments.
