Welcome to Chipboard Week, MME fans!  All this week our awesome designers will be sharing inspiring ways to use MME chipboard. WOOHOO! Let's get this party started. Tina's up first!

Hi everyone!  Tina here today to kick off our Chipboard Feature Week!  It is no secret, I LOVE chipboard.  Chipboard has always been my favorite My Mind's product.  The designs and patterns are always the best and I always enjoy creating with them.

Today I thought I would share with you a Mini Tray project, created with our new Frightful Chipboard Element sheet.

 

This project was super easy.  You only several pieces from our new Frightful collection to complete it.  The only cutting needed is for the patterned paper placed in each cubby hole.

 

I layered chipboard elements with Mixed Bag diecuts, using foam tape in places for dimension.  You don't only need to decorate each cubby, you can also add embellishments on the outside and edges.  Fun!!

And just like that, DONE!

Halloween Themed Layout

Happy Halloween, everyone! Missy here with you today. I must say that Halloween is my favorite holiday to scrap.  I love all the fun colors and embellishments that come along with Halloween themed scrap supplies.

The Happy Haunting line is an amazing collection, and it’s just perfect for any type of Halloween photo.  This photo is of my daughter at her school Fall Festival a few years ago.  One of the teachers dressed as Tigger, and she was just mesmerized.  I was glad to be there to get some photos, and I just loved the mixes of the bright oranges.

I knew I wanted to start with the Happy Haunting “Skull” paper because of that awesome orange glitter border.  I also like to make things a little crooked, so I layered the striped “Thirty-First” paper on top of it, at an angle.  I layered in several other patterned papers behind my photo and added some of the decorative tapes for an extra pop of color and pattern.

Check out all that glitter!  I love that so many of these papers have glitter on them…
One of my go-to embellishments is cord.  I love winding it up and adding to my pages for extra interest and texture.  It’s really versatile, so you can wind it up, stretch it out, make it loop or tie it in a bow.  And it matches everything!  I added one of the Happy Haunting Layered Stickers here, and my cord wound around it perfectly.
This chipboard skeleton is one of my favorite pieces!  It looks like he’s presenting the photo and holding one of the phrases in his hand!  He is easily incorporated into a layout.  And this makes him not so spooky ☺.
I also added in some of the Happy Haunting stickers from the Accessory Sheet and some of the Decorative Brads.  They’re perfect for clusters and layering.  And some of the attached pieces have glitter!

Happy Haunting Halloween Tags

Hello Ronda here today to share with you some SPOOKtacular tags featuring the Happy Haunting Stamps.  I love doing tags for Halloween.  There are so many different ways to use them. 

I like to do a Tag Display leading up to Halloween as decor.  You can make them with your kids and they look great displayed.  After Halloween take the tags down and turn it into an adorable mini album.  Let's take a look at a few of the tags I created. 

Stamps can be a great way to create accents on tags.  I started this Spooked Tag by painting the background with orange and purple paints.  I then stamped the spider web three times around the tag.

After placing the chipboard down, I realized I needed to stamp another spider web stamp so it would be visible.

I love how the spider webs hang out in the background accenting my chipboard piece.  The decorative brad "31" looks great stacked on the chipboard skull.  I added more brads and chipboard pieces to the stamped webs, along with the brad word "spooked" which became the title of this tag.

Stamps are also great as focal points.  On this tag, this stamp becomes the star.  I love the "Labels" Paper but stamping on it, the image would become lost. 

So I could use this paper, I simply added white paint to tone down the paper.  Now when I stamp the image, it holds up against the paper and takes the lead.

I love the way the skeleton stamp is the focal point on the patterned paper.  I sprinkled some black paint around the tag and added a purple swipe of paint to the top of the tage.  I hung the decorative brad above his hands, like he was holding it.  The final touches are the chipboard piece and sticker at the bottom of the tag.

Stamps can be used to create a stellar background.  On this tag I painted it with three colors and then scratched into the paint using a fork.

Next I stamped all over the background using black ink and the happy haunting stamps.  I then added the bat brads, pulling up their wings to give them dimension.  I added the chipboard sticker at the top as the final piece.

Halloween Treat Tins with Laurel

Hi everyone Laurel here with some Halloween treat tins.  My girls are too old to go trick or treating so for the last couple of years I have given them a little gift for Halloween so that they don’t feel like they are missing out on anything !

 

This year I decided to decorate some tins that I have had in my stash for a couple of years and the Happy Haunting collection was just perfect.

Supplies: Happy Haunting: 12x12 papers, chipboard, brads 

I always give my oldest daughter a spider theme gift because she absolutely hates spiders, hehehe!  The web patterned paper was what I started with then I just added the web border punch and of course a die cut creepy spider. I usually give her a cute one, but this year I decided that she needed creepy!  The addition of the decorative brad and messy thread helps to add some texture and dimension to the tin.

My other daughter loves halloween so I can give her anything.  I went for a bat theme (for the record I hate bats they are so creepy).  I love the bat border sticker and the label.  Once again, I used my Cricut to die cut a bat and added a decorative brad for interest.

 

When I add tags to my projects I like the look of a couple of them hanging so I created a ‘to/from’ label from some old MME kraft paper then, I just adhered the black sentiment pennants to some cardstock, trimmed them and punched a hole to create a tag.

For the tops of the tins, I just adhered a circle of the pattern paper and topped them off with some of the chipboard elements.

After adding vintage paper and Happy Hauntings paper to the outside and inside of my cigar box, I began constructing each vignette. 

I used a mixture of chipboard and sticker accessories, with vintage metal embellishments and trinkets.

 Each little cubbie represents Halloween in all its best...witches, skulls, and creepy crawly things!

Pull out those vintage finds and grab Happy Hauntings and create your own Halloween memory.  Hmmmm, how cute would this be using one of the newest Christmas collections: Mistletoe Magic or Vintage Christmas?  I see a future project in the works!  :)

Halloween Cards by Danni

Good morning everyone, Danni here with you today to share Halloween cards and a couple of different interpretations of the new Happy Haunting line. 

I love Halloween...if it's cute. I know, I know. Spooky is fun, but just not for me.  I was thrilled when I saw the Happy Haunting line because it is so glittery, full of rich black and orange and fun iconic images.  I decided that I would let the inspiration fly, and fly it did. 


On my first set of cards, I created with the patterned papers, allowing them to take the lead in my inspiration.

I love all the patterns in this line so much, that when I looked up from my creating table I had created a lot of cards using the absolutely gorgeous patterns in this line.  I was in love with these patterns, embellishments and images and just couldn't stop.

On my second set of cards, I decided I wanted to add some purple and green cardstock to the patterned papers in order to create a more cutesy Halloween interpretation.

  I cut some scaredy cats and fun bats using my Cameo and some black cardstock.

This line is amazing, hands down one of my favorite Halloween lines ever and I hope I have shared just how versatile it is for your personal Halloween fun.

Juliana says:These Halloween frames are made from an assortment of black frames that hold 4x6 images. I spray painted a couple of them with black paint before I began to decorate them. I cut the various images from the "Cards" Paper and placed them inside the frames. Then I decorated them with various bits and pieces from the Happy Haunting collection.

How great are these frames? We can't get enough of them. If you like those, then you will LOVE this banner that Juliana sent to us.

 Juliana says:To create this banner, I cut out the letters from both the "Spooky" 12 x 12 patterned paper and from the same paper in the 6x6 Paper Pad. I layered the different pieces together with materials varying in height to help give it more dimension. Some of the things I used were chipboard, cardboard and double sided foam tape.

The tiny bats that I embellished some of the letters with are fussy cut from the "Word Art" Paper in the 6x6 paper pad.

If you look closely you can see that I stamped the images from the Happy Haunting decorative stamps with both grey and black ink on the "Spooky" Paper before I attached the other layers.

Woohoo! It's October! Which means that it is time for one of my favorite holidays! Ever since I was a little kid I have loved Halloween. I have also always loved glitter, so when I laid my eyes upon the Happy Haunting collection…

well, a smitten girl I was! Today I have a trio of tags to share with you, all of which use the Happy Haunting collection. These will be perfect to attach to treat bags for my kiddos or bottles of wine for our friends.

For the following tag I simply stamped the witches hat and the greeting, then finished it with some hand dyed seam binding and a chipboard button.

This next one utilizes the web stamp, a banner stamp, and a sentiment stamp and some beloved enamel dots.

Fall Favorites with Tamara

Hello and Happy Friday! This is Tamara.

My absolutely favorite season has always been fall.  Maybe it's because my birthday happens to be in October, or perhaps it is because I love everything pumpkin, the crisp cool air, the colorful leaves, sweater weather, warm soups, need I go on?

Supplies: Happy Haunting: Spooky patterned paper, Skull patterned paper, Moroccan patterned paper, Thirty-First patterned paper, stickers, layered stickers; Chalk Studio: 6x6 pad, Label sticker, epoxy letter stickers; Misc.: Black thread, ink, and pen.

I love so many things about autumn, so I thought it would be fun to create a layout highlighting "My Fall Favorites". I even had this fun iPhone photo from my birthday lunch at the Thanksgiving Point "Harvest" restaurant (doesn't the name even sound like Fall?).

I used the fabulous new "Happy Haunting" collection - who says that it is just for Halloween? The orange glittered papers are so festive!

Who would have guessed that the black background paper had a huge "31" in the bottom right corner? I cut the "A" card for my title from the "Spooky/Scary" paper (perfect for an instant Halloween banner).  I glittered it and black Lush chipboard letters for my title and finished it off "Chalk Studio" epoxy letters .

I cut a strip of the Orange Damask paper, taking care to cut around the skulls. I cut the brown 6x6 paper from Chalk studio in half and hid the seam with a black label sticker. I replaced the "Happy Halloween" banner on the circle layered sticker with my own banner of "Thanksgiving Point".

I had so much fun creating a list of all the wonderful things I LOVE about Fall. I used leftover chipboard scraps to "pop" the "My Fall Favorites" title off the page.

I am so excited that it is finally October.  Hope you enjoy everything wonderful about Autumn!

Welcome to Double Page Layout Week!

Hi!  Tina here today and kicking us off with our Double Page Layout Week! 

To be honest, when I hear 'two-page layout', I get a little nervous.  I am NOT a two-page layout designer and when I am challenged with creating a two-page layout, I am not sure where to start. 

How will I fill TWO pages with photos, embellishments, and journaling?  I am typically a one photo designer, so how do I use more than 1 photo?  I how do I make both pages look cohesive and connected?  These are all questions I ask myself when confronted with the challenge of creating a two-page layout.

Let me share what I came up with and how I went about it.

Here are a few of my tips on how I bridge the gap between creating a 1 page, 1 photo layout to  a 2 page, multi photo layout.

1.  12x12 seems TOO much for me, so I cut everything down to 8.5x11.  My brain can cope with two 8.5x11 pages, instead of two 12x12 pages.  With two 8.5x11 sheets, there is less 'real estate' that must be filled with photos, embellishments, and journaling. This makes the project much easier for me to do.

2.  How do I create a cohesive two page layout?  When creating, attach both sheets together with tape (on the backside).  Keep them attached until everything is in place.  Using this technique, I create my two page layout as ONE PAGE.  All of my photo's, embellishments and journaling will flow from one page to another.  Also, when you are ready to 'separate' the two pages, do NOT be afraid of cutting a photo or embellishment in half, so that a portion of it sits on one side or the other. 

3.  Since I am primarily a one photo designer, I will convert my photos to black & white (or sepia) when I want to use multiples.  Also, you can replicate the same photo for a multi photo layout.  I love the repetition and black and white look.

Did you notice another 'surprise' on my two page layout?  I used our newest Halloween collection, Happy Haunting.  Halloween is my favorite holiday and I couldn't wait till October to create some traditional Halloween projects, so I used it on my layout.  I love the colors of Halloween, and mixed with my black and white photos, they paired up quite nicely.

So I hope the next time you think about creating a two-page layout, you won't be so hesitant.  Please share your tips on how you create a two-page layout.  We would love to hear about them!
