Hey there! Missy here.
I’ve been in a “use up my stash” mode lately, so today’s layout features the Chalk Studio 2 collection. I love all the gorgeous colors of the B-sides of the patterned papers in this collection.
I cut a large background circle die-cut on my Cameo and used various papers from the 6x6 Paper Pad to fill in the spaces. This is a fun and easy technique to try if you want lots of color and patterns in small doses. I love how these pretty colors really pop against the black. And I have to share the huge mistake I made! I accidentally forgot that I had loosened the top of a bottle of black Color Shine and decided to shake it…and I wound up with huge black splatters all over the right side of this layout.
AFTER it was pretty much complete. I was able to salvage it and had to do some editing…hopefully it’s not too noticeable! And just so you know, it did completely wash out of my clothes…haha! Sometimes we make mistakes and you just have to keep on creating, right?
Supplies Used:Chalk Studio 2—6x6 Paper Pad, “Home” Paper, “Word Soup” Paper, Chipboard Elements, Chipboard Frames, Icon Stickers, Decorative Brads; Chalk Studio—Icon Stickers; Just Sayin’—Alpha & Word Stickers; Jubilee Wild Berry—“Hey You” Rub-Ons; Necessities—Alpha & Word Stickers, Black & Grey; Other—cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Silhouette Cameo, Silhouette Die Cut, Heidi Swapp Color Shine, Sharpie Black Pen, Brother Sewing Machine, Coats Thread, pop dots.
I layered in some of the chipboard frames here and stitched a little bit through them. You can also see some of my splatter accident…oops! At least it didn’t land on the photo… I dug into some of the Black & Grey Alpha & Word Stickers from the Necessities line as well.
This cute Hello bubble sticker is from the original Chalk Studio line. I love that they coordinate…all the black and white are interchangeable.
I added a heart rub-on from the Jubliee Wild Berry collection here. And I also added in a bit of my own color by using some white gesso and some gelatos. I love the cloudy faded look against the black.
Here’s one last close up of the patterned papers behind the die cut and the layers behind the photos.
If you haven’t tried backing a die cut with patterned papers, I highly recommend it. It just about creates the design of the page for you. And you don’t need a lot of extra embellishments because of all the patterns & colors. This is also a great way to use up those little scraps of paper that are too small to do anything else with!
Thanks for stopping by!
