Happy Together | Scrapbook Layout by Tamara Jensen

Last week my husband and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary - pretty exciting!  We decided to commemorate it by spending the day at BYU - the college campus where we met and fell in love.  We enjoyed a delightful day roaming the campus grounds, visiting our favorite places, and reminiscing - it was actually very romantic and fun.  We enjoyed the perfect day and took this snapshot of us.

Supplies: Necessities - Metallics: Gold Confetti foiled vellum paper; Market Street - Ashbury Heights: Shimmer patterned paper, Shine patterned paper, flair pin, chipboard elements, decorative stickers, decorative tape; Market Street - Nob Hill: mixed bag, decorative brad, decorative sticker; Misc: White card stock, black ink, pen, and thread. 

When I saw this photo, I immediately thought of the fabulous striped and foiled paper from the Market Street collection - the colors were perfect.  I trimmed it down, rounded the corners, and used it as the basis of my layout.  I used the horizontal lines to place and frame my "Happy Together" title and the "Perhaps it is our imperfections that make us so perfect for one another" chipboard quote pieces.

 

 

I layered a long piece of gold foil confetti vellum over the striped paper and blue paper to soften them.  I adhered the vellum to the page with a strip of gold decorative tape (and a little double stick tape under the photo.  I placed the black and gold "Celebrate" sticker along the bottom and placed the "This Day" flair pin over it to echo the circular motif of the vellum.  I finished the page off the another sticker phrase "Always remember how much you are loved" and a chipboard "Snapshot of today" with a decorative brad.

 

 

I wrapped my journaling around the striped paper, starting at the black sticker, to draw your eye around the page.

New Collection Reveals | Joyous + Sleigh Bells Ring

Project LifeⓇ with Shelly | July 2014

Hello, Shelly here! I am back with this month’s Project LifeⓇ inspiration. Today, I documented our family photo shoot using a mix of Market Street and the Record it! Charmed Collections along with some pocket pages to make it quick and easy.

Once I got Market Street in my hands, I knew I wanted to do something with our family photos that I took for our Christmas card. I make it a point each year to capture a family shot for our Christmas card with a few extra shots of the kids too. I know it would be so much easier to just get a shot of the kids, but I feel it is so important to have a nice shot of all of us… at least once a year, right!?! These mini photo shoots almost always occur outside during the fall season, and I think that those divine colors from Market Street are the perfect match for any fall pictures. I know we are sitting smack dab in the middle of summer for us here in this part of the world, but I just couldn’t resist a fall layout.

I really wanted to keep things super simple with this layout. I wanted my pictures to shine and those pretty papers and cards to complement each one of them.

I think mixing Market Street’s rich colors along with Record It! Charm’s bold black, white, and gold did the trick of doing just that.

I added in a touch of embellishing here and there for a little extra excitement.

I am always a fan of tone-on-tone color action. I love that it blends in, yet stands out too. These phrase stickers from the label sheet where the perfect thing to add that extra something to this trimmed 4x6 striped paper.

To bring in some more of the floral, I added in this brad along with a couple of enamel dots for a cluster of three. I am all about repeating elements to bring a layout together.

So how do you feel about documenting using the ease of pocket pages and journaling cards? I have been documenting everyday life through the “typical” weekly project life format since 2009, but just recently started to venture into documenting events and seasons. I truly love that you can make project life anything you want it to be even mixing in traditional pages too.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Laurel

Hi everyone Laurel here with you today.  It has been awhile since I created a layout.  I have been so busy lately, I have only had time to create cards.  However, now that school is finished (I am a teacher) I should have a bit more time!

My mom has never worn nail polish or anything but since I became a Jamberry consultant she decided to give them a try.  Well my youngest daughter was happy to give grandma her first manicure and pretty up her nails.  And guess what grandma is now hooked on them.

 

 

I just went to work layering paper and scraps of the Market Street Asbury Heights.  I love the gold!

 

 

I cut the die cut doily in half so that I would be able to tuck it into a couple of places. 

 

There you go! Thanks to this gorgeous collection the layout was easy peasy to put together!

New Collection Reveal | Jubilee {Mint Julep + Tangerine}

Welcome back to day two of our reveal week!

Today we are back with two new color schemes from Jubilee.

This color scheme is crisp and fresh. The vibrant patterns and colors are absolutely delicious.

Mix and Match with Karen | July 2014

Hi everyone!

This is Karen and I am back with a Mix and Match page for July.

A few months ago, my kids were playing with chalk in the front yard and asked me to take their picture hugging. They didn't have to ask me twice. I then used the photos as fodder for my next page, of course. The
photos have green, black and red in them so I wanted to see if I could make a page that had only those three colors. I thought using Chalk Studio to document a day of sidewalk chalk would be fun.

Here's what I ended up with:

To tie the two pages in, I kept things to a minimum.  I added a line of tape to the top and the bottom and then a little black text and a heart to the bottom left:


On the right side, I created a visual triangle with the two black stars and the one gray one next to the final photo. I like how stark the black is and how much contrast it adds to the page.


I loved using the Tiny Words/Alphas to weave into my title. They are my absolute favorite:

Just to prove that no MME line can be too old to use, the red fleece behind the photos comes from the Kraft Funday line! My challenge to you this month is to use one of your oldest MME lines on a layout. And if

New Collection Reveal | Jubilee {Sherbet +Wild Berry}

Happy Monday, MME fans! It's that time of the summer again...REVEAL time! This week we will be sharing FIVE new MME collections with you and we couldn't possibly be more excited!

We just know that each and every one of you will find something that catches your eye this week. And of course, as always, every day you will have the chance to win an entire collection that is featured.

First we want to share Jubilee by our lovely and talented Jen Allyson and the fabulous Celeste Knight.

Merriam Webster defines jubilee as a season of celebration. That definition suits this colleciton to a T. It's simply full of joy and celebratory happiness. 

Jubilee consists of four color schemes and today we are introducing you to two. Each color scheme is comprised of sixteen double sided papers and the accompanying embellishments.

 

First up is Jubilee: Sherbet.

Free To Be Me

Happy Independence Day to our US blog readers! Tonya here today with a layout that is all about celebrating one's freedom.  

One of my children is the type of kid that lives for the "free to be me" motto. He's quite a character with a sense of humor and a huge heart. The kind of kid that people are drawn to. So the title of this layout was perfect for these photos of him.

 

When it came to creating a layout that is all about our nation's colors- red, white and blue...of course I just had to use the Necessities red and blue collections. One of my favorite embellishments in this line is the large metallic (or glitter) chipboard letters. They just demand attention!

 

Supplies: Necessities-Blue: Monogram Alphas, Decorative Tape, Tiny Word/Alpha stickers, Enamel Shapes, Decorative Brads Necessities-Red: "Stripe" vellum paper, Decorative Tape

 

I pulled out some metal star dies that I have and put them to use on this layout. I started by taking a sheet of blue card stock (approx. 5x7") and alternated strips of the metallic and glitter blue decorative tapes, I then proceeded to die cut a bunch of stars out of it.

 

 

The "let freedom" letters were die cut from one of the large metallic chipboard letters.

 

To add a little bit of extra visual interest to the title I die cut a star out the large letter 'n' and the popped up one of the smaller die cut stars in the center of it.

 

Note the strip of red and white diagonal striped vellum and the strip of metallic decorative tape…made for the perfect final touches!

Hope I have inspired you all to use a little red, white and blue in your projects. Happy 4th of July to you all!

Red White and Blue Layout

Hey there!  Missy here with you today.  Nothing screams Summer Time like the 4^th of July, and I wanted to celebrate by creating a fun and festive layout featuring the reds and blues from the Necessities collections! 

 

These cute photos of my little firecracker were perfect, so I built my mixed media page around those.  I started with white cardstock, gesso and watercolors.  I created a messy red background and then added splatters of blue.  I used some distress inks and watercolors around the edges to give a more defined touch of blue. 

 

I backed that with the Reds “Dots” Paper to give some interest around the edges.  I used a star die cut from The Cut Shoppe and traced around it.  There is minimal patterned paper behind my photos and a few pieces of glitter tape.  I created this cute banner with a punch and several pieces of papers from the 6x6 paper pads.  I used some of the glitter and metallic tapes to cover some of the banner pieces for extra shine!

 

Supplies :  Necessities Reds “Dots” Paper, Navy Decorative Tape, Red/Pink Decorative Tape, Blues 6x6 Paper Pad, Reds 6x6 Paper Pad, Black/Gray Decorative Tape, Alpha & Word Stickers – Reds, Reds Decorative Brads;  Other—cardstock, Liquitex Gesso, Watercolors, Silhouette Cameo (cut file from The Cut Shoppe), Black Sharpie Pen, Paper Studio Triangle Punch, Thread, Stampendous Ink, Studio G Stamps, StazOn Ink.

 

I cut the word “Star” on my Silhouette Cameo and then used the Silver Metallic Tape to cover it up.  I wanted it to be shiny, and this is the result!  This is an easy and fun way to use your tapes.  Definitely a great idea for a 4^th of July page!  You can also see here that I used pop dots for my banner and layered a part of my title on top of it.

 

 

Here’s a shot of the banner.  Again, I used the Red Metallic Tape to cover this banner piece.  I just love the shine it gives!

 

 

Here’s a close up of the die cut against the red watercolors.  You can also see the Red Glitter Tape and Silver Metallic Tape behind and on top of my photos.

 

 

Here you can see the dimension that layers create.  I used some of the Blue Dotted Tape as a layer under my photos…such a great pop of color.  I also used some red brads to hold my banner into place.

 

 

I hope this inspires you to use the Necessities collections to create a fun and bright holiday project!  All of the pieces make it super easy and fun to celebrate the red, white and blue!
