Hi everyone!
This is Karen and I am back with the June edition of Mix and Match with Karen. My younger son turned five years old back in April and I figured it was high time I made a layout for it. I tend to only make one layout each birthday and I am not worried about filling it with photos, I just want one representative page each year if Ican.
This was the first time I decided to use two sets of photos on my page. I picked a 3-series photo set of my son blowing out his candles and then a photo of his cake which I cut to make narrower. I put one set on top and the other on the bottom.
I had so much fun using a wood piece last month that I decided to use one this month, too. I didn't even cut this one. I mixed the new Record It! and Now and Then lines with Find Your Wings, Hip Hooray, and some
Cut and Paste. I ended up with:
You can find the journaling HERE!
On the bottom where I put the cake and the wood heart, I decided I wanted to a cluster of embellishments so I mixed a whole bunch until I was happy with how it looked:
I used the arrow-like chipboard shapes to lead the viewer's eye from the top section the the bottom one:
Then I looked at Nathaniel's photos and decided it would be fun if he had a little party hat on. I found the one in the Hip Hooray line and glued it right on his head. I love the way it looks!
on the other page, I wanted to add some tie-in elements, besides the washi I used to frame, I added a triangle and a chevron and a heart to the bottom left:
and one triangle and chevron to the top right. There's also one on the left page so now the viewer gets a visual triangle with triangles :)
And there we go. Lovely little page to celebrate my son Nathaniel's 5th birthday! I'd love to see some of your recent birthday pages!
