We are so happy you are here today. We have a brand new challenge for you today and the topic is simple.
Make a project using red, white, and blue. It is almost Independence Day, after all!
Tina Walker and Suzanne Sergi are joining in the challenge today. Here is what they came up with.
Tina's take:
I love color. By adding white, gray or black to any color, you can achieve different tints, tones, and shades. Because of my love for color, color challenges are especially fun! Unless a color challenge is specific to the tint/tone/shade to be used, you can create an endless array of projects with just 3 colors.
Supplies:Find Your Wings & Fly-Sky's the Limit:Look patterned paper, No Limit paper, Find Your Wings & Fly, Layered Ephemera paper,6x6 paper pad,Chipboard Accessories, Sticker Accessories,Decorative Brads,Stamps;Find Your Wings & Fly-Up and Away:Layered Stickers,Stamps, Enamel Dots,Word/Alpha Stickers;Misc:Punch: Jenni Bowlin, Ink: Archival, Adhesive: American Crafts (tape runner), Imaginisce (foam tape), Silhouette CameoI'm a non-traditional color person myself. When allowed to 'stray' outside the norm, I gravitate towards the outer edges of color. When asked to create a layout for the 'Red, White & Blue' challenge, I immediately grabbed my 'Find Your Wings & Fly' product and searched for different tints, tones, and shades of red/white/blue.
I love the soft, muted, and non-traditional reds and blues in Sky's the Limit. It was perfect for what I wanted to create.
When adding several designs, shapes, and colors to a layout, I love to use a neutral background. And since 'white' was one of the color choices, I used a creamier shade of white.
I layered multiple chipboard, stickers and die cut pieces. I also added and entire word/alphas sheet to my cluster for a fun and totally new look!
So next time you are challenged to create a project using a group of colors, think outside the box. You might like what you see. :)
Suzanne's take:
With Fourth of July around the corner, I thought a Fourth of July page would be perfect for this week's assignment. I loved this photo of my daughter with her friend, Stefani. Their necklaces that they are wearing in the photo inspired me to revisit the Collectable collection. It is definitely not your traditional Fourth of July colors.
Supplies: Collectable-Remarkable:Adorable paper,Day Dates Paper,Handsome Adorable paper,Day Daily Paper,Original patterned paper,decorative brads,Collectable-Notable:Dream paper;Boy Crazy:decorative brads
However, this collection is trend and full of color! I loved the Handsome paper with the fun starbursts. I used this along the bottom of the page. Lots of movement on this patterned paper, and that screams celebration to me.
I also cut a few starbursts out, and used them as details throughout the page. I used the Silhouette to cut my title, and added color to the embossed pattern with Faber Castell Gelatos.
Now it's your turn! How can you use MME to make a red, white, and blue page or project? We can't wait to see!
1. You can submit a layout,card,album,altered item,etc.
2. The project must consist of mainly MME. It must "look" like a MME project. :) It must fit the theme.
3. The project must be created new for this challenge. You may only submit one project.
4. Upload the project to the InLinkz link tool at the end of this post by the end of the day on Tuesday, July 16.
5. A random winner will be chosen and announced with the second July Challenge on June 17. The prize is any MME collection- the choice is yours.
Have FUN!
