Introducing our July Guest Designer!

Please help us in welcoming our August guest designer...Katie Ehmann! Some of you might remember our MME+ Gossamer Blue guest designer contest. Katie was the domestic winner of that contest!

We fell in love with Katie and everything she makes, and we are so excited to share her projects with you today and tomorrow!

Hi Everyone! I'm Katie Ehmann. I live in Michigan with my awesome husband and two dress-wearing, super frilly, always girly, princess obsessed girls, Lily and Maya. I'm not quite sure how that happened because I love playing soccer and wearing anything but dresses.

I am a school social worker, scrapbooker, wanna-be photographer and do-er of all things crafty. I love vintage cameras, typewriters, spray paint and estate sales. You can also find me watching really super intellectual, high quality reality television on a regular basis.

I am beyond thrilled to be guest designing for My Mind's Eye this month! Thank you so very much for having me!

Q:What did you have the most fun creating with? Why?

A:It has to be a tie between the patterned paper and chipboard elements! I completely love the fun, colorful patterns in these collections, and I loved mixing and matching them on my projects! Chipboard elements add the perfect title, embellishment, or finishing touch, and the designs simply couldn't be any cuter!

 

Q: What is your favorite MME line of all time? Why?

  A:That's a hard one, but I have to say The Sweetest Thing by Jen Allyson. The patterns, the colors, the washi...totally love! I'm really trying not to hoard the pieces I have left, but I love it so much it's been a struggle ;)

Oh Happy Day layout

Katie says:I used a craft knife to cut out shapes on a piece of white cardstock, which I then backed with these fun patterned papers. The stitching around the shapes adds a bit of detail, as does the confetti that I adhered to the top and bottom of the design. I absolutely adore this photo of my girls and thought the "oh happy day" chipboard and the layered balloon sticker were the perfect finishing touches to this project!

 

Sweetheart layout

Katie says:This recent photo of my youngest daughter is a personal favorite of mine. I love how the window light catches her sometimes blue, sometimes green eyes. I cut out different sized hearts from white cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo, and then punched various hearts from Kate & Co Oxford Lane patterned paper to create this layout. I added stitching and foam adhesive to some of the hearts to give them some dimension.

We are completely over the moon with these layouts that Katie created. And the best part is...we have three more to share tomorrow!
