Hi everyone!
This is Karen and I am back with another edition of Mixed Media with Karen. This month, I wanted to use the beautiful papers from Find Your Wings and Fly. I started out by taking the Be Awesome paper (which is absolutely stunning!) and glued it down on my page.
I then took Admit One paper and cut out a bunch of the tickets I liked. I inked the edges so they would stand out more on my page.
I glued them on the side of my page haphazardly.
Then it was time to make some butterflies. I punched a few out of the papers but then I wanted green ones and there's no green paper in the collection... so I took some of the tape and taped it on some regular printer paper and then punched from that.
worked like a charm. I went a bit crazy with all my butterflies and then adhered them all over the right side of my page.
Then it was time for my message. This month, I started a new Art Journal where all the messages are reminders to myself. Things that I hear or realize that resonate with me. Messages I really want to "hang on to".
This week, I was listening to a podcast by Tara Brach and she said "It did not happen to you or because of you. It just happened." And I had to stop the car to write it down. It was really important to me because no matter what happens I have this lovely way of making it all about myself and how I did something wrong. So this is one reminder I need regularly:
I added one extra sentence to the bottom which is also one Tara often says: It is real but it's not true.
A bunch of crazy color on the edges and my page was done. Here's a side view:

I like seeing how they look like they're just about to fly off the page.
