So today's post was supposed to start with "Please help us welcome our March guest designer, Tonya Dirk!". But instead it is going to begin with this.
Please help us welcome our March guest designer (and our newest permanent design team member) Tonya Dirk!
The moment I saw Tonya's guest designer projects I knew she had to join our team. I have known of Tonya and her love for MME for quite some time. I was surpised that she hadn't already been a guest designer.
When she sent in her projects I was blown away. It took about ten seconds to write her back and ask her to join the team.
And she promply accepted!
Here's a little bit about Tonya, in her own words.
I'm a forty-something year old SAHM to four kiddos ranging from 7-14 years in age. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for what will be twenty years this summer. We reside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, right in the heart of Portland Oregon. We spend a lot of time in Central Oregon enjoying hiking, four wheeling and boating.
I started this hobby back in 1998, shortly before the birth of our first child. I'm still every bit as crazy for it now as I was then. I think the only thing that has changed for me is the time that I find to scrap. I used to get kiddos to bed and then scrap the night away, however, I now have teenagers and that means they are awake with me.
Fortunately, they are all in school now so I've become a day time scrapper. In the last couple of years I have come to love card making every bit as much as scrapbooking…do I dare say maybe even more?! My style is a bit all over the place. I think I tend to do a little of this and a little of that. I lean a bit towards the graphic side and focus a lot on design and little details. I have a hard time making a project with out already having a vision in mind.
MME was the very first manufacturer that I fell head over heels in love with 15 years ago and to this day they still remain in that top spot for me. To say I was excited to receive the email from Stephanie would be such an under stated comment. Thank you so much to Stephanie and MME for having me!

Tonya says: The woodgrain was perfect for this masculine page. I heat embossed the stamps with white ink and white embossing powder. I love the contrast of the white on the dark and it helped to tie in my photos that I printed up with an over exposed effect.
Q: What did you have the most fun working with?
You are a Beautiful Ray of Sunshine
Supplies: Collectable-Unforgettable: Happiness Cheerful paper, Firsts Fresh Paper, Happiness Delight paper, Story Tale paper, You Are Pleasant paper, Today Remember paper, Story Journal paper,
So...can you see why I was BLOWN AWAY? This is only three of the seven projects Tonya sent in. Each one has just as much care, detail, and love as the last.
We could not possibly be happier (and luckier) that Tonya is joining the team!
Please welcome her warmly. And check back tomorrow for her final four projects. Happy Monday!
