It's time for the February sketch challenge! Ronda is here with another one of her fabulous sketches.
Share your layout via the inlinkz tool at the bottom of the post and you could be chosen for a blog spotlight and collection of your choice. You have until Thursday February 28 to enter. The winner will be announced along with our first March challenge on March 1.
With the sketch break out strips of patterned paper
and washi tape to build a cohesive layer. The canvas background is
bordered by a patterned paper. The photo could be one larger longer
photo or three smaller photos. A stacked title off to the left side of
the photos balances the journaling on the right. Stamp black elements
around the edges of the page to add interest.
Supplies:Collectable-Notable :'Love This' Adore patterned paper,'Love This' Devoted patterned paper, 'Love This' journal card;Collectable-Memorable:'I’m With' decorative stickers;Collectable-Unforgettable: 'You
are' Charm patterned paper;Collectable-Remarkable:'Day' decorative brads,'Handsome' decorative stickers,'Beautiful' stamp;Decorative Tapes: Yellow & Grey, Red & Turquoise, Green & Navy; Misc: heart punch, paint, floss thread, black ink, American Crafts thickers
Rhonda says: My mom & dad seem to be camera shy. If we can get a photo of one, the other remains elusive. Rarely can we capture them together. Blessedly at their grand daughter’s wedding, I was able to capture a great photo of the two of them. I decided to use three of the same of this great capture for my photo strip.
I wanted this layout to feel light, fresh, and airy so I gravitated towards yellow, aqua, & lime green with a pop of red accents. The strips at the top match the strips down the center. Did you notice the washi tape in the heart and on the butterfly body?
Little bits of washi tape are a great way to add in pops of color around the page. For my journaling I used a typewriter on the journal card. I love the red “Noted” pennant so I trimmed around it so I could adhere it to my photo. I used black stamped images and black stitches around the layout to bring it all together.
There you have it. Can't wait to see what all of you come up with!
Remember- please enter via the inlinkz tool below. I will be back later today with the January Sketch and Groundhog Day winners!

Happy Valentine's Day! This is Tamara joining you on this love-filled day. I hope that if you celebrate you are enjoying it with the friends and family that are so close to your heart.
Today I would like to share a layout with you that captures the sweet "brotherly love" that my two sons share.
Supplies:All is Bright: Collage patterned paper, Linen patterned paper, Ephemera
Frames patterned paper, stickers, chipboard, brads, and accessories pad;
Blue and Red Lush chipboard letters; Misc: Red thread, black ink and
pen.
I stepped a little out of the "traditional Valentine's Day box" and used a lot of blue, cream, and white on my page.
It also gives the page a more masculine feel, since Valentine layouts tend to be very feminine, pink and covered with hearts.
I used the "All is Bright" Christmas collection - who knew it would be perfect for a different holiday?!I think it is fun to scrapbook photos from years past. This picture was taken in 2007, but I pulled it off my computer and scrapbooked it as a Valentine layout.
I saw the hexagon stickers and knew that I HAD to use them on my page. I LOVE the fabulous and timeless MME Lush Chipboard letter stickers. I have a bunch in my stash and they seem to magically work with every paper line. I really like the velvet texture of the blue letters too.
I
hand cut the blue chevron paper and layered it with the red chevron
chipboard border. I then layered and clustered the journaling spot with
chipboard labels and circle elements.

Every Valentine's Day my parents drop by with a sack full of goodies for my kids. It's fun to capture the family together with all of the craziness and fun of the kids opening their gifts.
These kinds of pictures can be difficult to scrapbook, however, because of how busy the photos tend to be with many people, colors, and patterns.
One way to address these types of pictures is by placing them on a solid cardstock background and then using only a few slivers of patterned paper as accents. In this case, the photos can actually be considered a "patterned paper".
The supporting patterns should be used sparingly. You can see on the page below that I have incorporated several patterns, but only in small strips or as a border around the page. The photos are still the main "pattern" of my page
I wanted the smaller photos to be anchored on a common horizontal line, so I ran a length of turquoise decorative tape across each page. I layered the red heart strip from the Roses are Red paper on top of the tape.
Now it's time to add page accents! The 12 x 12 sticker sheet was perfect for this. I'm a very visual person and I like to move elements around the page several times before deciding on their placement.
With stickers, this can be tricky to do without tearing the paper underneath. My solution? I keep a small dish of cornstarch on my desk that I apply to the back of the stickers so that they are no longer tacky.
Now I can move them around and even add foam squares to the back for dimension.

Please help us welcome the fabulously talented Holly Humbert as our February guest designer! We kept noticing that Holly was making beautiful page after beautiful page using our products and we just knew she had to join us as a guest designer!
A bit about Holly:
I'm Holly Humbert. I'm married to my sweetheart of 5 years, mom to one little girl. We currently reside in a tiny town in southeast Idaho. I've been scrapbooking for over 10 years. It is not only memory keeping for me, but a creative outlet, a way to combine telling my story and being able to play with paper :) My family is very supportive and indulge me in “quick” stops to the craft store often. My style is somewhat graphic and simple, but I enjoy adding details to my pages to make them stand out. While 12x12 pages are my favorite to make, I also indulge in 8.5x11 scrapbook pages, mini books, and cards occasionally.
My
other hobbies include, quilting, photography and baking. I'm a move/TV
junkie and love to watch my favorite shows over and over again. I'm a
girly girl at heart, I love anything striped or covered in polka dots. I
change my nail color a few times a week and I love to play with make-up. You can follow my adventures on
You are So Loved
Supplies:Collectable-'Love this' Adore patterned paper, 'Memo' Reminder patterned paper,'Memo' layered stickers,'Love This' tiny word stickers,'Love This' chipboard,'Cute' enamel dots,'Notable' decorative tape
Holly says: Scrabble is a huge thing in my family, so I couldn't pass up a chance to use the awesome chipboard tiles for one of my pages. I wanted to create florals opposite corner of the printed ones, so I layered some of the floral chipboard pieces to match the printed paper in the opposite corner. I also added some to the printed corner to create more texture.
Ben
We LOVE everything you sent us, Holly! Thanks so much for sharing your talent!
Make sure to come back tomorrow for two more lovely layouts from Holly!

Hi! Will you be mine? That's one of my favorite Valentine's Day sentiments each year. Do you have a favorite Valentine's sentiment, one you that you consider your go-to sentiment?
Today I am going to share cards using
ONE sentiment three different ways. Sometimes it's hard to find time to
create several different designs, all with different sentiments, during
holidays, so I thought it would be fun to share three different card
designs using one sentiment.
On my first card, "be mine
banner", I wanted to create a banner using some of the newest designer
tapes released at Winter CHA. You will LOVE these colors and patterns,
they are bold and fresh! I chose to use my Cameo to cut the "Banner
Hearts" by Lori Whitlock and the "Be Mine Title Single Fold Square Card"
by Jamie. I love these two Cameo cuts so much and wanted to
incorporate them on a Valentine card this year. I wanted to use white
card stock so as to bounce the fun colors and patterns in the tapes and
enamel dots.
Supplies:
Collectable:Journey patterned paper,'Unforgettable' decorative tape,'I'm
With' enamel dots;Decorative Tape Sets: Red & Turquoise decorative
tape;Misc:Cameo, machine stitching, hand-stitching, white
cardstock
After adhering the banner to the designer tape
strips, I hand-stitched the banners and add an enamel dot to each to add
to the fun of the banner. I also decided the sentiment needed a couple
of little white hearts to pull the dimension, top to bottom, together.
On
my next card I decided to use the negative from the Cameo
cut and back it with some patterned paper. I added some hearts, stitches
and more enamel dots for another playful spin on the sentiment
Supplies:
Collectable:Journey patterned paper,'Unforgettable' 6 x 6
designer pad,'I'm With' enamel dots; Misc:Cameo, machine
stitching, hand-stitching, white cardstock
On
my last card, I thought there might be some that would like to play
with the sentiment that do not use a Cameo. So I did a little research
online to find these cute chalkboard sentiment downloads here: Chalkboard Printables,
To
create my block of "black patterned paper" I adhered strips of the
black designer tapes to a block of cardstock. I really like the look
of the patterns of black tapes and couldn't wait to adhere the
chalkboard sentiment. The sentiment looks so fun against the tapes and I
am going to try one of the chalkboard sentiments against the red tapes
next :)
Supplies:
Collectable:'Hello' Cordial patterned paper,'I'm With' enamel dots;Decorative Tape Sets:red/black;Misc: Chalkboard
downloadable/printable sentiments from Make it Create blog, hand-stitching, white cardstock
Thanks so much for stopping by today, have a fabulous weekend!

Good morning blog readers! Today it's time for another installment of I Spy with MME. Every day we scour blogs, online galleries, Facebook, and Twitter to find examples of layouts, cards, and other projects using our products.
Once we find eye-catching,inventive projects...we pin them to our "Inspiring Cards and Layouts" Pinterest board. If you need some majorly inspiring eye-candy to get your mojo going, then head on over! We promise that it will be just the thing to get you creating this weekend. We have some RIDICULOUSLY talented customers and fans! :)
Today we have six projects that we wanted to share with you. Each designer's name is linked to their blog. So make sure to stop by, say hi, and see more of their talents!
Designer: Katharina Frei
Katharina says: My husband has been "requesting" a new desktop calendar for his workplace for some time. I chose photos from different months of the past year and papers from various MME collections (The sweetest thing, Lost and found 3, Miss Caroline).
Why it caught our eye: What's not to love about this project? It's graphic, sleek, and chic. It's minimalist and fuss-free and we LOVE it. This is a calendar we'd proudly display if it was ours.
Designer:Rebecca Keppel
Rebecca says: I was thrilled to find lots of My Mind's Eye Collectable goodies in the February Scrapbook Circle kit Story Time. I wanted a design with circles to highlight the larger sized pins I was using so I die cut the grid circle background. I was excited to find that the My Mind's Eye Collectable "Cute" decorative stickers also fit right inside the circles! And the Tiny Word stickers were perfect for adding little phrases here and there and even one word right on top of the pin's heart.
Why it caught our eye: This layout is major eye candy. The attention to detail is phenomenal and we could just look at it for hours. We love seeing bits and pieces of our products used in such fresh and inventive ways!
Designer:Amy Young
Amy says: As a card maker I am normally a huge fan of MME 6x6 paper pads but I couldn't resist the new cut apart paper in the larger 12x12 Collectable line for this fun birthday card.
Why it caught our eye: This adorable card made us smile the moment we saw it. It's just happy all around. The bright colors, the sweet scattered embellishments, the little boy...just joy in card form.
Designer:Pam Callaghan
Pam says: I loved the shapes of the My Mind's Eye paper so much! I cut out a few shapes and places patterned paper underneath that area to give it that patterned look.
Why it caught our eye: Pam makes Indie Chic look like a work of art here. It was actually really hard choosing just one of our layouts, as she uses MME flawlessly on every layout. Take a look at her gallery here. We love the hand cut work here, the "window" effect is genius.Melissa says: Adding vellum over the busy floral pattern helped me tone down the color scheme while still allowing the pattern to be visible.
Why it caught our eye: This page tugs at our heartstrings emotionally. For one thing, it is very honest and vulnerable. For another...it is beautiful aesthetically. The simple, strong design really lets the photographs and message shine. We love the way Melissa showcases our Lost and Found 3-Oliver papers in such a lovely way.
Brook says:These pictures of my daughter show just how much her personality is starting to come out at 6 months old! The Sweetest Thing line by MME is one of my ALL TIME favorites ever and I just love how they make my photos stand out and compliment them so well!
Why it caught our eye: First off...is this not the cutest baby you've ever seen? HA! We just think this page is the sweetest thing ever. It's no coincidence...Brook uses The Sweetest Thing collection here. We love the layering and clusters of sweet embellishments!
Thanks for stopping by today, MME fans!
Remember, keep sharing your beautiful creations and you might just be featured in next month's edition of I Spy with MME!

Welcome to the blog guys! You picked a great day to come by, we have some amazingly creative and darling classroom/child valentines to share with you all today.
Enjoy and have a wonderful Thursday!
Die Cut Valentines by Shelly Jaquet
Supplies:The Sweetest Thing-Honey:'One of a Kind' title,'Perfect' title,'Simply Lovely' title, 'One of a Kind' journal card, 6x6 paper pad,decorative brads;The Sweetest Thing-Lavender:'Cutie Pie' title,'The Best' title,'Fabulous' title, 'About Me' journal card, decorative brads, 6x6 paper pad;Indie Chic-twine;Winter Wonderland-stamp set;Misc:tag punch,Versafine black ink,sewing machine and thread
Shelly says:With Valentine’s Day right round the corner, we are starting the next round of “holiday” parties for the New Year.
My daughter will be having a
Valentine’s Party with her Daisy Girl Scout Troop next Sunday. So we
sat down together this past weekend to create some special handmade
Valentines for her Daisy Friends.By keeping to this size, the
valentines will easily fit into an envelope.
We trimmed 2” strips of paper from various patterns and matched them up to each of the die cuts. Using a 4.25”x5.5” card base as a guide, we trimmed the 2” strips to size after arranging them how we wanted them.
We
finished each card off by stamping “to and "from” (using the Winter
Wonderland stamp set) on to white tags. I have a punch to create these,
but you can also find pre-made tags at your local office supply store.
Next, we attached the tag using brads and twine from the Indie Chic Collection. With the odd shape of these valentines, I was worried that they might
fall apart after all the handling they would endure with the kids, so I
quickly ran each through my sewing machine. Those babies aren’t going to
fall apart now!
To add a personal touch, my daughter added to the pre-printed sentiment. I have to say that I was pretty proud of how she knew just what she wanted to say to each one to make it her own message in her own handwriting. She is so excited to hand them out at her Valentine’s Party!
I hope you feel inspired to pull out your stash of die cut titles and create with your kids today!
Assorted Valentine's Day Treat Bags by Suzanne

I created a folded banner and added a calligraphy sentiment (also cut out with my die cutting machine). I used pop dots to attach the banner to the frame.
Finally, I used the enamel dots in a few spots to look like paint droplets. I love how this came together! Easy and beautiful. And definitely something that can be replicated for any type of holiday.
