Pinspiration Thursday

We are so glad you stopped by today, it's Pinspiration Thursday!

Every day, we scour the Internet for inspiring MME projects. We find your work on your blogs, through our FB page,and in online galleries. We pin the ones that inspire us most!

Then once a month we challenge our designers to use one of your creations as inspiration for a layout or card.

Stephanie says: Tamara's page made me so HAPPY the moment I saw it. I just knew immediately that her's  was the page I wanted to lift.

The first way I lifted Tamara's page was to use My Girl, since she used all Boy Crazy for her page. I would have used Boy Crazy, too...but with four little girls in this house that just ain't happening. :)

I lifted the overall design- photo placement, paper layering placement, embellishment clusters,etc. The title is in generally the same place.

The biggest design element I lifted from Tamara is the sweet scattering of embellishments all over her darling page.

She used brads, enamel dots,stickers, and chipboard...I used layered stickers, enamel dots, tiny word stickers, and felt accents.

Thank you SO much for the inspiration, Tamara...you've help me create a page I love!

Suzanne says:I was really drawn to this altered set by Marlene Gomez. I loved the combination of pinks and browns. The softness of her layout and all the pretty details inspired me to create a layout of my two favorite girls!

I used a large banner on the left hand side of my page, and used doilies to replicate her white diecut scrolls.

I used hearts and vellum flowers as the tiny details to my page. I also added stitching on my page. I also love the enamel dots, as they are a quick way to add interest to letters, and images found on the patterned papers.

In the Mood for Love {Cards} with Danni

Good morning everyone!  Danni here with you today to share a few more cards using the Lucky in Love papers and the Lost and Found 3-Ruby enamel dots.  I love finding all kinds of reasons to adhere as many of the enamel dots on a card as possible, they make me very happy and they add the perfect spot of color and happy to every project.

On my first card, I created a tic tac toe board using my Cameo and the beautiful papers from Lucky in Love and after stitching the grid, I added spots of happy to the 'os' with my enamel dots, the perfect little touch to still keep this card reasonable to mail and fun to receive

I love that the enamel dots draw your attention to the 'os' and inadvertently you are drawn to see the center of this tic tac toe grid is a heart.

On the next card, I decided to add a little spot of happy to the amazing arrow paper in the Lucky in Love line to draw attention to the centers of these cute patterns.  I really love this pattern, it's so happy and fun!

I Heart You Card by Danni Reid

Using the enamel dots on the arrows allows you t really see the bullseye the arrow shot through, fun little details to add a whole lot of happy.  And while you are adding touches of color, happy and embellies, this card is still reasonably and easily mailed at the post.

On my last card, I really couldn't take it anymore, I decided to play with a lot of enamel dots (they make me that happy....giggle) and created a heart using these beautiful color spots and a couple of the gorgeous buttons.  I then decided the heart should remain the focal of the card, so I added a short sentiment cut with my Cameo to the bottom.


I hope you, too, will pull out your gorgeous enamel dots to add to your Lucky in Love Valentine layouts, cards and gifts this year.  They are truly the perfect little happy on each project.

Mini Albums with Monika..."Our Story"

I'm lucky to share a story with my Mr. wRight and for this month's Mini Albums with  Monika feature I'll show you a way for you to share your story in a not-to-sweet/more masculine version of a mini album. I'm highlighting one of my favorite collections, Lost & Found 3 Ruby, on which I have a serious crush...especially this Honeycomb paper. I only have one sheet left, boo hoo!

Using the chipboard elements and sticker accessory sheet, I was able to create and tell my story in a way that had me smiling all the way through this project. Did you see the enamel dots I used to check off the memory checklist?

You'll see that my first page serves as not only a pocket but also as my "cover." I decided to add a white paper doily under the pink doily sticker and two chipboard elements so that the word forever just pops out. The white just drew my eye to the forever arrow.

The two lower photos show more options on using the sticker doilies from the Lost & Found 3 Ruby sticker accessory sheet by using layered stickers and chipboard on the pink doily on the left and a metal frame from the Adornments pack. Yes, I did use more enamel dots, instead of brads, on the metal frame...how could I resist?

DESIGN TIP  |  Layer, layer, layer. Forget about hoarding your goodies, just use them. I find that layering my stickers and papers and chipboard elements help them to not get lost on my patterned paper. If I had just placed the 'Our Story' metal adornment on my pocket page, it would have been lost in a see of stripes. But now, going from the larger pink doily sticker to the medium butterfly sticker and then to the Our Story metal adornment lets one see that the focus of this page is meant to be, drawing the eye in.

The strips of paper behind the 'One Fine Day' chipboard element are scraps I trimmed when making the pocket pages. Just trim them into a banner shape, curl up the ends a bit and adhere. Nothing wasted here, that's for sure!

Wondering how I adhered the pocket pages together?

Line up your pages bottom to top and add a length of decorative tape and trim. Voila...you've bound your mini album.

TUTORIAL  |  We'll create each of our mini album pockets with one sheet of 12x12 paper. Here are the score lines to get you started. I tend to score on the side of the paper that will not be showing on my project.

Here's how you'll construct and create your pocket pages. Just click on the image to enlarge or drag it to your desktop and save for future use.

JOURNALING CARDS |  After trimming the 6x6 paper from your mini pad to 5x6, choose your favorite stickers to embellish the paper and add your journaling before slipping it inside the pocket. Here's what I chose and you'll see that I've placed stickers so that I can journal around them and incorporate them into "our" story.

DESIGN TIP |  To keep my pockets and journaling pages under control, I wrapped the whole project with some satin ribbon to which I adhered a chipboard element. Love how the MME chipboard elements and stickers help to jump start my creativity and help me tell my story.

Here's how I created the fancy ribbon tie I used for my mini album. I first removed the adhesive back from the chipboard and adhered it to a scrap of the Honeycomb paper that I created my first pocket with. You'll then add adhesive to your ribbon and adhere it to the paper. You can now   wrap it around your mini album which is ready to gift to your very special Valentine!

Project Life with Shelly

By now, everyone stopping by has probably heard of Project Life, right? It’s a simplified approach to scrapbooking created by Becky Higgins .

I have been happily dedicated to documenting my everyday family memories this way since 2009. I am very passionate about this approach of recording. It is a great way to document without feeling overwhelmed.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love cutting pretty papers to create traditional layouts. However, this approach has calmed my nerves of never feeling caught up or simply feeling like I have forgotten something.

I am able to pull a layout together in no time about the camping trip we took this past summer, or pull pictures together in no time at all about the little things my son did at the age of 1½, all because it was already written down in my family album of Project Life.

What I truly love about this system is that you can make it whatever you want. I love that you can be as simple as you want or go crazy with creativity.

Today starts a new series where I give you a look into my album and how I use the amazing products that My Mind’s Eye creates for our traditional scrapbook pages in my Project Life album.

Okay. Confession time, I can’t be the only one who hasn’t documented their Holiday season celebrations, right?

Now that we are in the aftermath of the crazy holiday storm, I look back at all of the pictures and remember all those memories that happened during the holidays.

I became a little overwhelmed. It is easy to do when you have hundreds of photos staring back at you.. I took a deep breath and began to pick out my very favorite pictures. The ones that tell the story the best.

I can be pretty brutal. Our holiday festivities were in full gear that week prior to Christmas, so I started there.

I pulled those pictures aside and went to town with the Winter Wonderland Collection.

The Winter Wonderland accessories pad is the perfect complement to this approach to document your holiday season.

I was pretty excited when I flipped through the pad and saw this  “to-from” tag. The light bulb went off in my head, and I used it as the title card of my layout.

I mounted it  (with decorative tape)  on the red strip patterned paper that is in the accessories pad too.

I trimmed another tag from that same sheet and mounted that on the red woodgrain paper from the 6x6 paper pad.

The “Tag” paper was next on my "must cut" list. I trimmed down each of the 3x4 cards from the top of that sheet.

One I used here and the others will be used for the week of Christmas. 

The card on the right side of my layout was trimmed down from one of the sheets in the accessories pad. I love that it had the top border built right in.

Then I trimmed a sheet of the diagonal stripe from the 6x6 paper pad down to 4x6 and added small shots of Rexy the Elf and his silly little antics from that week, attaching them with some of the new decorative tapes.

With this week being so picture heavy. I didn’t have a lot of room to journal. The pictures for the last two days of this week were pretty self explanatory. The scaled down cards from the 6x6 paper pad and the “Happy Day” tab from the sticker sheet fit perfectly over my pictures to document those memories.

Now,thankfully, I have the week leading up to Christmas madness documented.From my daughter wrapping gifts for the giving tree to my son’s Christmas party. From opening the first Christmas gifts of the year to a neighborhood Christmas get-together, and decorating cookies with Grandma...these memories are documented.

The first part of the holidays have been documented and recorded without any stress.

Even if you aren't doing Project Life, this is a great way to get those holiday memories recorded without feeling overwhelmed. It also helps you to use up all of those pretty holiday papers and embellishments that we all have in our supply stash.

With this sketch you can create a background with inks, spray inks, or paint or even patterned paper. 

The photo could be one larger photo or two smaller photos.  A stacked title off to the right is a great way to balance the patterned paper & photo on the left.  You can add journaling stripes, hand written journaling, or printed journaling under the photo.

My nephew is very close to my kids.  They grew up together as my sister & I were always together.  I love the relationship these three have.  When Jake comes out for the summertime, they are inseparable.  I am overjoyed that they feel like almost siblings and not cousins. 

To create the background, I used my stencil and distress inks.  Next I layered the yellow patterned paper over the journaling card.  I added a bit of washi tape on the journal card for color and another design element.  Those arrows were just perfect! 

I decided it needed another strip or two to balance the color story so I added flower strip and number strip to the layers.  Before I glued everything down, I sprinkled the background with black paint splatters. 

I thought a title would look great off to the right so I used the backside of the 'Love This'  Adore patterned  paper to ground the title.  To create the stacked title using the today stamp “a good day” I masked off each word with post it notes. 

All around the edges I stamped different images & words using black ink to bring the page together.  The layout needed some texture so I used the decorative brads and enamel dots scattered around the page. 

I am always ok with hand written journaling because it gives future generations a bit of me on the layouts.

How to Create a Confetti Border with Enamel Dots

Hi, Everyone! Jana Eubank here. I have to tell you that I am loving the new My Girl and Boy Crazy collections. The bright colors have me sifting through my summertime photos to scrap .... the perfect five-minute-vacation from the chilly, single-digit temperatures outside my window. :)

For this page, I pulled out a few snapshots I took at Disneyland last year of my daughter riding the King Triton Carousel.

In Photoshop, I duplicated the photo on top of itself, changed the top layer to black and white, and then erased the area with the seahorse for a spot of bold color.

I arranged my photos in blocks on different patterned papers and grouped several circles at the bottom (decorative brad circles, chipboard circles, and felt sticker circles).

The bottom of my page was very decorated, and I wanted to balance that out by adding fun detail to the top of my page as well.

I decided to sprinkle enamel dots across the top to look like confetti. I snipped the clear acetate carrier sheet so that each dot was on it's own little clear square. This allowed me to be able to arrange the dots in a pleasing manner before actually sticking them to my page.

I sprinkled in a few of the stars from the 12 x 12 chipboard elements sheet for variety.

I love the texture and whimsy the enamel dots look across the top! Wouldn't this be cute on a birthday or water page, too?! I can't wait to try it again!

Collectable Cards by Suzanne

Hi, everyone! Suzanne here sharing  some cards made with one of my favorite collections debuted at CHA.

The Collectable Memorable collection was instantly my favorite! I loved the combination of pinks, greys with touches of blue. The patterns are muted perfect for girly projects!

Today I have two cards to share with you!

On the following card the 'Journey' Journal patterned  paper inspires my sentiment. This sheet of different sizes, and patterns gives you endless options! Fabulous for layering, perfect for Project Life, and just right for fast sentiments on cards.

The 'Perfect' Flawless patterned paper really stood out to me in this collection. So I used it as the base for my next card. It is so pretty on its own, I wanted to cover as little of it as possible!

'Perfect' chipboard,'Note' label stickers;Misc:diamond dust, embossing folders

I turned to the 'Perfect' die cut title for my sentiment! I love it because it's bold.

I positioned it in the center of the card. Few additional details were needed but I did cover the diecut with diamond dust to add a bit of sparkle!

How gorgeous is the Collectable-Memorable collection? I can't wait to see once you are all able to start creating with it!
