Hi Everyone! Jana Eubank here.
Today I am playing with the gorgeous NEW decorative tape from the Indie Chic Ginger collection. I gotta say, this is the first time I have ever tried playing with decorative tape on a layout. It was so easy and so much fun!
I couldn't decide which tape to use . . . I loved all three patterns! I decided to combine them together to form a border for my scrapbook page.

Supplies:Indie Chic-Ginger:Mellow patterned paper,6x6 paper pad,decorative tapes,journal card,label stickers,buttons,layered stickers,stamps,metal medallions,layered chipboard,twine,border stickers;misc-sewing machine and thread,gray ink,trimmer,scissors,pen,letter stickers,black distress ink,adhesives
I used a neutral colored patterned paper with a subtle pattern for my page background so that the decorative tape border wouldn't overpower the other page elements.
I tore each tape strip in varying lengths and then added stitching to a few of them for fun.
I love the smaller scale of the papers in the 6 x 6 paper pad. They are perfect for creating mats for photos.
Here I layered together three different patterns tearing the bottom edge of each one. I left a space beneath my photo on the top layer to provide a space for the page title.

I loved using the decorative tapes on this scrapbook page and can't wait to try them again. There are so many things you can do with them! Here are a few more ideas I hope to try soon:
-Use several tape strips stacked together for a background (the same way you would combine several patterned paper strips).
-Cover a chipboard shape with tape strips, trimming off the excess tape with your scissors.
-Fold strips of tape over a length of string to create your own pennant banner. Trim the end of the folded tape into a dovetail, triangle pennant, or simply cut on a slant.
-Punch out a circle from cardstock. Use the circle as a base as you fold and ripple a length of decorative tape around the edge of the circle. Continue towards the center of the circle creating a ruffled flower accent. Add a button, brad, sticker, or chipboard piece for the flower center.
-Create a ruffled border for your page by folding the tape back and forth upon itself. Stitch to keep in place.
-Fold a length of decorative tape over the end of a stickpin, toothpick, or paperclip. Trim the ends to create your own flag embellishment or decorative paperclip.
-Decorate a plain chipboard frame by wrapping the tape around and around the frame.
-Create a plaid background by layering tape strips together in a criss-cross pattern.
-Cut tape into squares, triangles, or other geometric shapes and adhere them to a page edge-to-edge to form a quilt-inspired background or border.
-Create your own tabs or decorative pulls for hidden journaling by threading a length of decorative tape through the slit on a tag and then stapling in place.
-Don't limit tape to papercrafting projects . . . they would be fun to use on bookjackets, lampshades, decorative boxes or frames for the home. Anything!
-And many more possibilites! What will you come up with?
Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you've made something you love using our tape...share in the comments. We'd love to see!
Have a wonderful weekend. :)
