Hi everyone!
I am here to share some super-simple Christmas ornaments with you. While I love making things for the holidays, I often feel overwhelmed and don't like to undertake a huge project. Which is exactly why I decided to keep these very simple. You can always add more complexity if you prefer that!
Ok, let's get started. My Christmas tree is blue and silver so I took out all my blue, silver and brown trim.
I then took a blank ornament and adhered one layer of trim to it. I used my ATG gun to adhere mine. I assume a glue gun would work better if you have one (I don't!).
I then adhered a dark trim on top. If you're not using blue and white like I am, you can go one of two ways. You can either use different tones of the same shade or you can use complimentary colors. It really depends on your personal taste. I do recommend varying the texture, width and type of the trim just because it makes it more interesting.
My final step was to add one more trim as my top layer.
and here it is on my tree. It's simple but I think it still looks really nice.
I then wanted to do one with my six-year-old. So we took another empty ornament and glued buttons all over it.
then we cut of pom poms from the trim and glued those in the middle of the buttons
and hung it on the tree, too, of course.
And for my final ornament, I created another one using trims. This time I put three rows of trims and then one more as a second layer in the middle.
Just to jazz it up a little more, I added a decorative brad and hung it on the tree.
and there we are. Three simple ornaments. All of these will take you maybe 20 minutes. I hope you get your trim and buttons out and play!
We’re going to give one lucky winner trims and buttons so they can make ornaments like Karen did in this project! Leave a comment on this blog post and we’ll draw a winner on Monday, December 26, 2011.
