When deciding what to make for a Christmas project I didn’t have to look further than my two little girls who are very excited that it’s not much longer to wait until Christmas Day. Together we came up with the idea to make a sign for Santa so that he knew to make a stop at our house on the big night. Then the girls wanted me to make another one for the Reindeers so they knew where to wait and have a snack while Santa got to work!
· Take a flat canvas measuring 9” x 12” and cover with patterned paper (I used Holly Jolly ‘Old St Nick’) and I covered the back of the canvas in a piece of plain cardstock.
· Ink around the edges for a vintage look.
· Adhere Diamond Dust around the edge and then brushed lightly with white paint for a snowy look.
· Use the ‘Santa’ from the Holly Jolly Accessory Sheet and back with chipboard, then ink the edges (instead of using the chipboard you can just use foam tape to add dimension). I used some Diamond Dust with paint across the top of the letters as well. Adhere approximately 1” from the top of the canvas.
· Underneath attach an assortment of alphas to finish off the title;
- Please – So Sophie ‘Clever, Pretty Girl’ letter stickers inked in red
- Stop – Lush Chipboard Alpha Stickers in Red
- Here – Lush Flocked Chipboard Alpha Stickers in Green
· In the Bottom left corner attach the calendar from the Holly Jolly Accessory Sheet. Ink the edges first and then angle it slightly before using foam tape to stick it down.
· Tuck the holly leaves and berries into the top of the calendar (these are also from the Accessory Sheet) using foam tape.
· Attach a wooden support pole to the back of your sign. I attached mine starting at 2” from the top to ensure the sign had plenty of support. I colored my pole with ink (warning it’s very messy!!) but you can also use paint or mists.
· I used the gorgeous Lush Ribbon in red to tie a bow at the top of the pole and then finished off with some green and red glitter glue to pop some highlights on the sign.
The Reindeer sign was made in the same way using the following materials: ‘I Believe – Candy Cane Stripes’ paper, I Believe Glittered Chipboard Elements, Holly Jolly Accessory Sheet, Lush Chipboard Alpha Stickers in Brown, Red and Green, I Believe Decorative Brads, Lush Rhinestones and I added in some holly leaves and berries I found at my local craft store.
I hope you have fun with your own signs. The only problem I have is that mine keep disappearing into the girl’s bedrooms as they just think they are so much fun. I think the next project might have to be signs with their names on them so they can keep them out all year round!
The Candy Cane Tags are for my daughter who wanted to give some Candy Canes to some of her friends at school. I used paper from the Colorful Christmas Collection and covered a shipping tag. Using the Accessory sheet I layered some of the Die Cuts on the tag, finishing with some of the gorgeous sparkle ribbon from the Lost and Found Collection (Portobello Road – green and Market Street – Pink). The back of the tag was left blank for her to write a Christmas message to her friends – Enjoy!

Such a good idea. We forget too fast what our kids were like from one year to the next.
