Alphabet Mix & Match

Looking for an easy and eye-catching way to title your projects?  Karen Grunberg starts her projects with the story she wants to tell and a title and builds her layouts around it.  All the colors in our lines mix and match so well, creating a stunning title for your projects is easy!

My son's baby teeth are now falling off and how his smile is changed forever and it's a sign that he's growing up so I wanted to preserve the story and the teeth. The manila envelope behind his photo contains the three teeth that are no longer in his mouth.

I wanted to use all sorts of  different letters for this layout so I picked a photo that didn't have too much color and just picked words in different sizes and textures from my alphabets. I alternated them so that two greens or pinks weren't next to each other and so some words were larger than others. I lay them out so they are not aligned but close to each other and then I adhered them down. The only alphas I altered were the red ones which weren't bright enough so I colored pink ones with my red copics and that gave me the perfect bright red color I needed!

Animal Mobile

Featured Collection: Alphabet Soup, Designer: Tiffani Smith 

I made this project as a baby shower decoration that could then be used as a mobile above the baby's crib.   I think it could be fun for a one year olds birthday as well.  By using different papers this idea could be used for so many different occasions.  (I can just see one made with Lost and Found...) The possibilities are endless!

To make it, I started with an old lamp shade and removed the covering, leaving me with just the cool wire frame.  I used the chipboard elements and just five pieces of paper to make all of the accordion folded spinners. Each of the spinners is made with two strips of paper ranging from 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" wide.  I adhered the circles and chipboard to the spinners with a glue gun just to make sure it will all stay stuck down tight.  After that, all that was left to do was to attach the spinners to the wire frame with an assortment of ribbons.

Portobello Road & Union Square

Today we asked Trisha Ladouceur and Amber Packer to spotlight our Lost & Found - Portobello Road and Union Square collections.

Trisha Ladouceur: Trisha’s lumpy-bumpy style is highlighted in the banners on this beautiful layout about her son.  Trisha cut out the banner (and birds) from our Portobello Road “Party” Celebrate Glittered paper and divided into two different sized banners.  She added some fiber and rhinestones to complete the banner look.

Amber Packer:  Amber is known for her home decor ideas and the ability to think outside the box.  Amber created this project based on a card.  The card had a ribbon down the center with a decorative frame in the middle.  You can see those two design elements in this darling wall hanging using our Lost & Found – Union Square collection.  Amber used the details in the papers to create this simple wall hanging.

Eye Catching Find: Alphabet Soup

Today’s Eye Catching Find features Alphabet Soup – Boy and Girl collections.  The talented gal that created these beautiful layouts is Jillian Deiling Cassity.  Jillian has “been obsessing over these My Minds Eye Alphabet soup papers and chipboard shapes.”

Sweeter Than Sweet:  We love how Jillian used the “Girl” papers and embellishments in the Sweeter Than Sweet layout of her darling son.  What darling layouts these are!

Fun with Alphabet Soup

Alphabet Soup is such a fun collection!  With bright colors, fabulous patterns and an ABC theme, you will reach for this collection over and over.  We asked our wonderful Guest Designer, Karen Grunberg, and fabulous Design Team Member, Anam Stubbington, to share a few creations with you.  As you can tell, Alphabet Soup is not just for layouts about children.

 

Karen Grunberg:

Karen always has a white cardstock background.  It’s her signature style – and we LOVE it!  Look at the ways the colors, especially the red & yellow just POP against the white background!

Featured Collection: Alphabet Soup - Boy

Karen had this to say about her layout: “I love this collection! Since I have two young children, I have a lot of very colorful photos. The photos in this layout have bright greens and yellows and it's hard to find matching papers. I prefer to preserve the original colors of my photos and in this case it was important to the story of crazy ways in which we try to get my son to wear a hat when he's outside. So I was delighted to see how many of the Alphabet Soup papers and die cuts fit my photos perfectly.”

Anam Stubbington:

We love how Anam used the elephant chipboard piece on her layout to emphasize how she has a hard time remembering names.  Note how Anam used brads to create the body of the hand-doodled butterflies in the center of each flower.  Her no boundaries style helps her come up with ideas that others may not think of – like the fabulous Skype layout.

Market Street & Madison Avenue

Today we are taking some time to focus on our two feminine Lost & Found Collections: Market Street and Madison Avenue.  We’d like to share this beautiful layout by Tamara Jensen, Part-time Design Team Member extraordinaire.  Tamara combined both collections to create this lovely masterpiece.

“I can't get over how incredibly GORGEOUS these papers are!  I just get giddy with excitement as I run my fingers over all this glitter!  I combined elements and papers from both Market Street and Madison Ave to create this page.  I LOVE their fabulous and elegant buttons.  I stitched together a ribbon flower and added the beautiful jeweled button as the center.  Can you believe they even have glittered velvet ribbon!?!?  I am officially in love!”

Featured Collection: Alphabet Soup and Quite Contrary 

I wanted to do something whimsical and fun for these photos of my older son helping, hugging, and kissing my younger one. I cut out the clouds from the paper, coupled them with some die cut stars and used my dimensional glue to raise some while keeping others flat. I stayed true to the weight of the sketch by keeping the elements on the right.  This layout is about my wonderful older son who is incredibly nice to his brother so I wanted to thank him for being the world's best big brother.

I am constantly reminded me of the many blessings I have in my life. I am so very thankful for not only family and friends but also for my job. Not many people can say that they truly LOVE their job, but I can! Being able to travel the globe while sharing my passion for scrapbooking while making fabulous friends every step of the way makes me a very happy girl! For these opportunities I will forever be thankful!
