Sandpit Fun by Sonia Thomason:
Featured Collection: So Sophie – Savvy, Lush Rhinestones in Green
I wanted to have a bit of fun with this layout and really try to get a feeling of some summer warmth. The red, yellow and green colours seemed like a wonderful bright combination and I thought putting in a large sun shape would add a bit of whimsy. After I’d finished it still looked like it needed an extra touch to add some dimension and the rhinestones from the Lush collection completed it perfectly.
Sonia took a break from the winter cold to create this gorgeous layout for us. We have absolutely enjoyed having Sonia as our Guest Designer this month. Thank you, Sonia!
Wacky Water War by Jana Eubank:
Featured Collection: Alphabet Soup
I came outside one day to find my silly kids dressed up in full on "battle gear" having the wackiest water fight I've ever seen. :)
The Zoofari Paper from the Alphabet Soup - Boy Collection, with it's blue wood grain pattern on the backside, was a perfect way to recreate water on this page.
I cut out a few strips following the curve of the wood grain and then layered them together with pop dots for added dimension.
The sun, clouds and the word "Wacky" were cut using a digital cutter. The blue flocked chipboard letters are from the Lush Blue Collection
Splash Park by Tamara Jensen:
Featured Collection: So Sophie
One of the highlights of our summer was having cousins visit from Iowa (a 36 hour drive!). Our kids look forward to it every year. The title "Never Enough Time With You" perfectly expressed our feelings about this special time together.
The fresh, bright colors of So Sophie Savvy coordinated perfectly with our photos cousins playing together at the Splash Park. The zig-zag stripes even matched my niece's swimsuit! I LOVE MME journaling tags and titles and have fun layering them on layouts.
I borrowed Amber's fun idea and cut out the red bracket strip from the barcode end of the paper (that is normally thrown away).
Powell Tested by Amber Packer:
Featured Collection: Lost & Found – Portobello Road
I am IN LOVE with Lost & Found and knew I wanted to use it for my layout today. I also knew it would be a little tricky since the papers do not scream “Lake”. The subtle blues in the Portobello Road collection and, specifically, the neutral background of the First Class paper are perfect. The blues compliment the blues in the water and sky and the neutral tones make the colors in the pictures POP! It allows the viewer to feel both the serenity of the lake and the fun being had by my sons. This is definitely a favorite of mine.
We hope you are enjoying your summer (or winter) as much as we are.
We hope to see you back here on Monday!
