A scrappy confession - I've always been a wee bit intimidated by shaped patterned paper. This sketch gave me the opportunity to get over that fear! Since the background paper is bold in & of itself, I kept the rest of the layout very simple. I modified the sketch by keeping the title, photo, journaling, and paper strip within a 6.5 x 8 space, using a subtle paper as the mat. This allows the photo & journaling to be grounded...a good idea when you have a "busy" background.
I chose this snapshot of my daughter, Hope, being held by her great-great grandmother in the hospital. I'm rather sentimental these days...Hope just turned 18, and is graduating from high school this week! I really love being able to reach back into archives of photos and document those precious memories.

I turned the sketch to the right and flipped it. I LOVED this sketch. I will use it again, that’s for sure! Thanks Anam.
We are excited to see what you come up with!
