For some reason Mother’s Day has snuck up on me and QUICKLY! Since it is in two days, I needed something quick AND beautiful.
I am in LOVE with So Sophie. I love the ledger/lined papers contrasted with the florals. The color combinations are beautiful. I also love how fabulously the Lush embellishments match.
It was a no-brainer for me to pull out So Sophie “Savvy” for this project. I used an 8 x 10 frame that I sprayed black. I had actually sprayed an antique frame black, but the opening was smaller than 8 x 10 and I needed the extra inch and a half. Keep the opening size in mind when you begin your project. Remember that you can always change the color of the frame, so look more at design and size than color when choosing a frame (check thrift stores for good deals).
To make this project:
Supplies:
1. Cut:
2. Print “another word for” on bottom of back side of die-cut paper (Font: CK Chemistry)
3. Adhere scallop die-cut paper to center of green side of Helpful Houndstooth paper. Sew along top and sides of die cut paper (Do not sew over adhesives).
4. Cut 18” piece of green satin ribbon. Fold over and staple just above scallops on die-cut paper. Add three rhinestones to the right side of ribbon.
5. Add “love” chipboard letters to the right of “another word for”.
6. Adhere two strips of blue adhesive rhinestones.
7. Make (22) small red flowers and (1) large blue flower.
8. Punch two leaves from left over paper. (Fiskars hand punch) Fold and scrunch to add shape and glue to blue flower.
9. Lay out 11 flowers to make each “m” and blue flower for “o”. When you like how it looks, use glue dots (or a liquid glue) to adhere.
10. Add to frame and enjoy!
Now, I just need to make one more and I’m done.

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. What better way to show your mom your love for her than with these beautiful flower cones designed by our Guest Designer, Jessi Lute!
There is something so beautiful about simple. Maybe because you see so much more, feel so much when things are kept simple. For me, there is nothing simpler then homemade gifts. It doesn't need to be complicated or take hours, days, or weeks...it can be as simple as Victorian inspired paper cone filled flowers. It's the thought, right??
These little paper cones are super easy and quick to make...and once made can be filled with just about anything: flowers, candies, little gratitude notes. We actually hang these cones on every bedroom door knob in our house at Christmas, vessels to random acts of kindness. We leave notes for each other, little pictures, share treats....whatever!! The kids definitely love giving as much as they love seeing what has been left for them in their cones.
So this year for mother's day....why not fill a homemade paper cone with something special?
Enjoy and Happy Mother's day!!!!

I’m not sure how I can add to what Anam has said. So I’m not going to say much, but show pictures.
I scrap both to REMEMBER and be GRATEFUL for the little things. The good, the bad, document what I’ve learned and look forward to the future.
1. It’s my 10 second “pause before I speak”. This layout is of my youngest son. He decided that it would be fun to play in my acrylic paints and spread Hauser Green (great color) over the counter – and himself. Instead of yelling, I thought about how I wanted to preserve this memory. So, I ran and grabbed my camera. He and I cleaned up the mess and all was well.
(Featured Product: Wild Asparagus)
2. To be more involved. It makes me stop sunbathing to take pictures like these:
(Featured products: Tres Jolie and Breaking Free)
3. ENJOY the moments, count my blessings and remember when they happened!
(Featured products: Love Me Do and So Sophie)
4. Express my feelings, hopes and desires for my loved ones. Life is too short, you never know when you won’t be able to tell them how you feel.
(Featured products: So Sophie and Breaking Free)
5. So my loved ones will know who I am:
(Featured product: Life Stories and The Merry Days of Christmas)
6. And, to remember things like this:
(Featured product: Meadowlark)
I hope I didn’t overload this post.
Remember we are giving away the My Mind’s Eye collection of your CHOICE! The more you comment, the more chances you have to win. For instance: comment on all three posts from today by Monday, May 3, 2010 and be entered three times. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of {Inter}National Scrapbook Day!

We hope you are having a WONDERFUL day preserving your memories!
We’ll have three posts today. The first is a layout by Anam Stubbington, sharing why she scrapbooks. In the early afternoon, Trisha will be checking in from the event she is teaching at to say “hi!”. Our last post will be from Amber. (Tiffani is on her way to a week long event in Portugal (lucky girl) – we’ll miss her!)
Designer: Anam Stubbington, Featured Products: So Sophie
My diary
Text: “I scrapbook because I have a crap memory when it comes to dates and times. My layouts are my diary – filled with the good, the bad and the ugly. Each page is a small part of me – either some of my joy or some of my hurt. I scrapbook for me – it is my way of telling my story in my words. When i am gone, i hope my family and friend remember my words and that they know that i loved them so much more that just words and photos.”
What would {Inter}National Scrapbook Day be without a giveaway from My Mind’s Eye!? We know – tragic! So, leave a comment on this post or all three posts (this will give you more chances to win) by Midnight, Monday, May 3, 2010. We will give ONE winner the My Mind’s Eye collection of their choice!
We’ll see you back here soon! Thank you for celebrating with us.
