For some reason Mother’s Day has snuck up on me and QUICKLY! Since it is in two days, I needed something quick AND beautiful.
I am in LOVE with So Sophie. I love the ledger/lined papers contrasted with the florals. The color combinations are beautiful. I also love how fabulously the Lush embellishments match.
It was a no-brainer for me to pull out So Sophie “Savvy” for this project. I used an 8 x 10 frame that I sprayed black. I had actually sprayed an antique frame black, but the opening was smaller than 8 x 10 and I needed the extra inch and a half. Keep the opening size in mind when you begin your project. Remember that you can always change the color of the frame, so look more at design and size than color when choosing a frame (check thrift stores for good deals).
To make this project:
Supplies:
- 1 - So Sophie Savvy “Anything For You” Helpful Houndstooth paper
- 1 - So Sophie Savvy “Never Enough” All Together Alpha die-cut paper (includes scallop edge)
- 1 - So Sophie Savvy “Anything For You” Reliable Red paper
- 1 - So Sophie Savvy “In Love” Splendid Surroundings paper
- 1 – Lush Green Flocked alphabet
- 1 – Lush Green Ribbon
- 1 – Lush Green Adhesive Rhinestones
- 1 – Lush Blue Adhesive Rhinestones
- 1 – Lush Blue Decorative Brads
1. Cut:
- (1) 8” h x 10” w - So Sophie Savvy “Anything For You” Helpful Houndstooth paper
- (1) 7 3/4” h x 8 1/2” w – So Sophie Savvy “Never Enough” All Together Alpha die-cut paper (includes scallop edge)
- (22) 1” x 6” - So Sophie Savvy “Anything For You” Reliable Red paper
- (2) 2” x 12” – So Sophie Savvy “In Love” Splendid Surroundings paper
2. Print “another word for” on bottom of back side of die-cut paper (Font: CK Chemistry)
3. Adhere scallop die-cut paper to center of green side of Helpful Houndstooth paper. Sew along top and sides of die cut paper (Do not sew over adhesives).
4. Cut 18” piece of green satin ribbon. Fold over and staple just above scallops on die-cut paper. Add three rhinestones to the right side of ribbon.
5. Add “love” chipboard letters to the right of “another word for”.
6. Adhere two strips of blue adhesive rhinestones.
7. Make (22) small red flowers and (1) large blue flower.
- Small red Flowers: Spray strips with water of Glimmer Mist to make pliable. Scrunch, fold and roll into flower shape. I used a bit of glue from a glue gun on the back to keep the flower shape. They end up being 1/2” – 3/4” wide.
- Large blue flower: Glue two 2” x 12” strips together to make one 2” x 24” strip. Spray with water as you did for the small flowers. Scrunch, fold and roll into a flower shape and finish with glue to help the flower hold its shape. Add Blue Lush decorative brad to center of flower.
8. Punch two leaves from left over paper. (Fiskars hand punch) Fold and scrunch to add shape and glue to blue flower.
9. Lay out 11 flowers to make each “m” and blue flower for “o”. When you like how it looks, use glue dots (or a liquid glue) to adhere.
10. Add to frame and enjoy!
Now, I just need to make one more and I’m done.
