So Sophie: Savvy and Charming

Last week we introduced you to our newest collections: So Sophie and Meadowlark.  Over our next few posts (excluding our blog challenge post on Monday) we are going to let you see both collections in action!  Today we are featuring So Sophie Savvy and Charming.

 

 

Designer: Amber Packer, featured collection: So Sophie Savvy

I had the opportunity to play with the Savvy collection today.  I had SO much fun.  This is a definite favorite of the Design Team.  When I first saw these papers, I immediately thought of these photos of my sons (taken by Carrie Butler).  The colors are bright and fun and remind me of summer!  I’m a red girl who LOVES blue, green and cream so I think I’m in heaven using this collection.  I cut apart the transparencies to help frame the photos in a more subtle way.  The flowers in the corner of the die-cut paper help direct your eye back to the photos.  I cut the photo frame so I can use the other half later.  There were so many elements that I wasn’t able to use, I guess I’m just going to have to do more.

Okay - I am officially "charmed and twitterpated" with the new So Sophie "Charming" collection.  The neutral green, blue, and brown color palate works so perfectly with my family photos.  I especially LOVE that they have DOUBLE-SIDED die cut paper - have you ever heard of such a wonderful thing?!?  (They retail for $ 0.99)  I really enjoyed designing with this gorgeous scalloped circle.  It already had the perfect space for journaling and the subtle flowers framed my photo beautifully.  I accented the flower centers with green rhinestones (from Lush) and used blue rhinestones to tie the title into the page. I also added glossy accents to the green chipboard letters to make them shine.

March Top Tens of 2010

We are enjoying documenting our Top Tens of 2010.  We hope you are too!

Today we’d like to share our March Top Tens with you:

In keeping with my No Pictures theme with this book and using a different journaling style each time... this time I used the self-adhesive rhinestones from the LUSH collection to create "bullets" for each of the ten signs of spring.

 

Anam Stubbington:

This is a quick list of our top 10 things that we, as a family, love about Edmonton. This is important for me to record as we decided in March to try and stay put in Edmonton rather than move again in the foreseeable future. So our March was all about weighing up the pros & cons of Edmonton and deciding it’s got way more positive things that make living here so worthwhile.

March is a favorite month of mine.  It is the month I became a mother.  I wanted to document what I love about my son.  I also asked my husband and both sets of grandparents to share their “top ten things we love about Neal”.  I tucked their top tens along with a photo of them with Neal under the large photo.

 

We have asked two of our past Guest Designers to play along monthly with us.  Here are their March Top Tens:

Tamara Jensen:

When I think of March - I think of "Green" and "Luck".  So I designed a layout that listed 10 reasons our family feels so Lucky and very Blessed.  I was thrilled to get to play with the fabulous new So Sophie Charming collection.  The greens, blues, and browns perfectly coordinated with our family portrait.  This photo is of an impromptu hug during our shoot - and ended up being our favorite picture because it illustrates our love so well! On the MME blog hop last weekend, I was inspired by Tiffani's use of a full 8x8 photo on her daughter's album and had to borrow her great idea. I used Glossy Accents to highlight the green chipboard letters and the swirl on the title card.

Meet Gretchen McElveen

Hi! I am Gretchen McElveen and I could not be more excited about being a part of the My Mind’s Eye team this month! I live just south of Birmingham, AL with my husband Lee and our dog Shada. No kids for us yet, but hopefully soon! I work full-time as a physical therapist in an outpatient orthopedic clinic not too far from my home. I like to say that I am a therapist by day and a scrapbooker by night! I really started scrapbooking about 7 years ago after we got married and I had 1,000,000 wedding & shower pictures that needed somewhere to go. Scrapbooking is such an incredible hobby! It is my creative outlet and a way to express emotions and feelings I often have difficulty saying. It is my way of documenting life and the special people who are such a big part of it. I cannot think of a much better way of spending my free time!

As far as My Mind’s Eye goes, I do not think I have met a line I do not like! Wild Asparagus and Kaleidoscope the first lines that I remember catching my eye.

 

And My Mind’s Eye just keeps getting better and better!
