This past week my husband and I hit a major milestone in our relationship... 20 years together! My mom recently gave me a CD with a bunch of pictures from a family gathering last summer and lo and behold... there were several pictures of my husband and I (that NEVER happens!) and we actually like them too so that is an added bonus:) (Photo Credit: Eric Hornung Photography in Edmonton, Alberta).
It seems only fitting that I use a fabulous collection of papers to create a layout I will cherish as much as the photo. That is where the new My Mind's Eye Meadowlark- DAWN collection comes in. This collection was designed by the fabulous Carina Gardner (she also did the Bella Bella collection last year... probably one of my all time favourite collections!). Anyways, here is my take with lots of details and even a set of instructions (kind of like a free class when you get those, eh?! I LOVE sharing with everyone:)
I love the black and white combination, it allows you to combine so very many different components and not have it be overly distracting. In the above picture, it shows not only patterned paper but die cut accessories, rub-ons and a bit of the Black LUSH velvet ribbon (YUM... I love that stuff!)
Here is a closer view of the rub-on borders, they were used beneath the strip of ribbon as well as beneath the title on the little card.
Here I added even more Lumps and Bumps by adding a LUSH decorative brad between each diamond shape on the die cut strip.
I also combined the word rub-ons with my own handwriting on the journal die cut accessory. Layer it with a few more die cuts and it'll really POP off the page!
I tucked a little more journaling on a tag that can be slid in behind the title using the LUSH Flocked letters. Embellish with some more of the LUSH ribbon and a decorative epoxy brad (also from the LUSH collection). Can you see how we can combine the timeless LUSH embellishments with the latest and greatest! I'll be breaking out my stash for a long time I am sure!
One more thing to really take your project to the next level... I broke out my Xacto knife and cutting mat to cut around this image and the flowers and leaves in particular. Those little details can go a long way towards creating a page with fabulous details that you will cherish always!

Anyways, I am sure these will be hitting your store shelves soon if they are not there already! Enjoy playing with them... I know I did!
Happy Scrapping!
