Treasured Memories Specializes in hard to find scrapbooking supplies, however with over 100 different suppliers in stock I think it is safe to say we have something for everyone.  My Minds Eye is obviously one of our favorite brands. We feel that the quality and selection offered by My Mind’s Eye really helps customers find what they need in order to create original and breath taking layouts and projects.

My personal favorite My Minds Eye line is "Oh La La" because the colors are simply stunning, the patterns can make such a bold statement for your project, and I love working with products that can add so much to whatever you might be working on at the time.

The team here at Treasured Memories is one of my favourite entities of this store. We are all connected with one another and have truly become the best of friends through sharing the experiences of working and creating together. We have 8 members of staff that work in the store who encourage and support our customers.  Our team avidly designs classes and displays to inspire your mind while browsing through our store. Our team extends beyond these eight to my father, my mom and our extended design team.  My father comes in on Sundays to decorate the shelves and give our store the atmosphere and reputation that it has today.  My mom is in almost every day to chat with the customers and staff as well as help out in evenings or whenever we call. And then I have my forever talented extended design team of Trisha Ladouceur, Anam Stubbington and Nadine Wachter.  Who, without fail, create works of absolute art to help push our customers outside their comfort zone and encourage them to learn something new or try something a little different, ensuring we are always growing as artists and people. Both Anam and Trisha work very closely with My Minds Eye and their products and help to inspire our customers on a regular basis using the latest MME products.

We recently hosted a 62 hour marathon crop for customers finishing up their last minute Christmas gifts, and it was such a blast! We had people here cropping for the entire 62 hours!  There were door prizes, goodie bags and Trisha hosted a My Minds Eye Christmas Make and Take that everyone absolutely loved. The event was a huge success, with the help of many companies and local business who were able to support us.  My Minds Eye donated product for the goodie bags as well as all the product it took for Trisha to run her Make and Take for 24 excited ladies.

It’s our FIRST Christmas together!

Now, we know you, our dear readers, are NO Ebenezer Scrooge!  But, today you are about to be visited by the “ghost of Christmas past” – our past.  We have asked our Design Team members to create a layout about a favorite Christmas memory of their childhood.  If they didn’t have a picture of themselves, they used a current photo and journaled about Christmas past.  We had such a fun time reading our Design Team’s memories.  We hope you enjoy it, too!

Many of our readers do not celebrate Christmas.  We didn’t want to leave you out!  We asked two VERY talented ladies to join us today by creating a Kwanzaa and a Hanukkah layout.  Thank you Tanisha and Lisa!  You did a fabulous job.

This was such a special page to make. I don't have a lot of small time pictures of me with me here in Canada. But my brother emailed me a few and i was so happy to scrap them! The title came from the song when I was small and Christmas trees are tall. I am so thankful that God has been looking after me all these many many years. Ok, only many. I am not that old!

I’m wishing I had put one of these together for my parents and parents-in-law for Christmas.  Shhh… I think they just may get one for Grandparent’s Day.

Now is a good time to stock up.  I bought this cute Matching Game for $5.  You can pick one up for that price almost anywhere right now.

You don’t need to purchase one, you could just use cardstock or chipboard as your base.  If you purchase a game, you’ll have really sturdy pieces a tray and a box.  It makes it more simple.  The game I purchased comes with 72 pieces.  I only used 22 to make my 11 matches!

Blog Challenge and Christmas Winners!

Can we just say … GORGEOUS!  Your paper flower layouts are to DIE for! 

There were so many fabulous ideas: from bitty blossoms (Agnieszka), poppy (Liz), bachelor buttons (many of you), raffia (Leica), wash cloth flowers (Wendy), springy flowers (Rosie), roses, lollipop flowers (love these) so many we wish we could name them all!  You NEED to check out our fabulous gallery.

THANK YOU!  All our participants generously provided instructions on how to make their flowers.  You’ll find them in the gallery on the same page as the layout.

The winner of Challenge #6: Paper Flowers is:

1.  Created using cricut, cut out 3 different sizes, inked and rolled.  The brad is a metal brad that I hand covered with the matching paper.

2.  Created using cricut, cut out 3 different sizes, inked and rolled.

3.  This is the rose taught by Tim Holtz for his 12th tag of Christmas this year. Learn How!

4.  Created using cricut, cut out 5 different sizes, inked and rolled. 

5.  Lollipop flowers scrunched and misted.  Cut 4 circles, 3", 2.5", 2", 1".  Spritz with water, then glimmer spray.  While wet, scrunch and fold together.  Use heat gun to set this in place.  Looks like leather flowers when done! 

6.  Heart Rose technique.  Heart Rose Tutorial!  (Warning - these are HUGE!)

7.  Vintage Brad Flower.  This is quick and easy.  You just need a large brad.  I made mine using a 1/2" brad and a 4x4" square piece of paper.  I tied mine using string versus a rubber band.  I saw this on another site and thought it was a cute idea. I placed a part of the Prima bling in the center for fun. Learn How!

I needed a little motivation to jump start my creativity this week- and I found it on the My Mind's Eye blog- their challenge: to make handmade paper flowers! This is always fun because there are SO many ways to create handmade flowers, the possibilities and details are endless! I had a few new techniques I had been wanting to try- so I did!

I went a little old school and dug out my Kiss and Tell papers from MME and I knew what I wanted to do- make a "fancy" page with one of my wedding photos. I have made a whole album with our wedding photos but it was my first scrapbook ever! So I wanted to make something with my current style.

I also got out all of my Shimmerz and used them to add lots of shine and bling to my flowers, there is just something relaxing about getting out a paintbrush and painting with the shiniest sparkliest paints you can buy! (well at least for me anyway haha!)

I used some Shimmerz Blingz and painted it on a stamp to add some detail around the edges of my cardstock base for this layout- believe it or not this is the first time I have used shimmerz on my stamps and I LOVED the result! Then after I finished making my flowers (details on that below!) I got my paintbrush back out and added details on the edges of all the flowers, the blingz and shimmerz really added a lot of depth to the color just by painting it on the edges of the paper.

6 Christmas Breakfast with DH's parents
7. Reading from the collection of Christmas Story books I bought the boys as they were growing up (Max Lucado's Crippled Lamb is still my favorite )

I love the corn bake that my husband makes! It is SOOO yummy. We sort of switch things up for Christmas - Thanksgiving is very traditional, but Christmas changes from year to year.

Top Ten...

There are dozens of Top Ten lists one could make at this time of year but I went with Holiday Traditions. As you may have noticed over the past couple of weeks, I sure do enjoy playing with the Colorful Christmas Collection of papers and coordinating embellishments. I have made a plethora of various projects using it this season, perhaps I SHOULD have done a Top Ten Colorful Christmas project list...lol! Oh well, that will have to be next year, I guess!

I could have made the focus of this layout: activities, baked goods, toys, etc BUT ended up with the Traditions theme too only to see that Amber did a "7 Traditions" on the seventh day of Christmas. Oh well, I hope you can forgive me and appreciate the difference in styles and forgive me for the repeat!

I thought that with the number of photos we take over the holidays it was a good idea to first of all convert everything to Black and White but then to print them in wallet sizes so I could fit multiple pics on this double paged layout! And YES, I did that for YOU too! It is not very often that I do double pagers anymore but I know that many scrapbookers still like to scrap in this manner so I am hoping this will provide you the inspiration needed to get a layout completed with ease:) 

I used the papers, die cuts and Glittered Elements from the Colorful Christmas Collection as well as the brads and ribbons. The Glittered Chipboard letters from the Laundry Line complimented this project perfectly so if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some of these, know they will look FABULOUS! I also broke out my sewing machine to add some additional flare.

The embellishments were so much fun that I wanted to make them a major focal point in this project so I attempted to create a mini scene along the bottom of the layout. Lots of pop dots were used to provide additional dimension (because Lumps and Bumps are a GOOD thing!).

With journalling not being my strong point, I was still able to document my Top Ten Traditions by simply getting them down in point form so they will not be forgotten in the years to come. Don't let this seemingly daunting task deter you from getting your most treasured traditions scrapped!

On the ninth day of Christmas....

Tiffani gave to you.... nine letters dancing (and a lady).  

Here's a fun last  minute project that can be left up for the whole winter season.

  
 
To make this project you will need papers, ribbons and an accessory sheet from the Colorful Christmas line, a glittered chipboard alphabet, white tulle, and white cardstock. 

Cut nine papers of your choice to 3 1/2" x 5".  Back with white cardstock and finish the edges with zig zag scissors. Adhere glittered letters to white cardstock, trim to a 1/4" border and attach to banner pieces.  Embellish with pieces from the accessory sheet using 3D foam dots give dimension to your project.  Punch a hole in both of the top corners of each banner piece.  Thread pieces onto white tulle.  Finish by tying strips of ribbon on each end and between each word.

We didn't have much when I was little, but my Mama always had cardboard, glue, etc. I made paper dolls from the old Sears catalog, and furniture for them from the cardboard that my dad's unifom shirts were folded around when they came back from the cleaners. I attribute my love of crafting in general and paper crafting specifically to those early days with her.
